Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge

Reviewed By BluegooseTraveler - New York Mills, MN, United States

My wife and I traveled here in June and found this wonderful place. This NWR is located in northern Idaho near the town of Bonners Ferry, ID. It was established as a migratory waterfowl refuge. We enjoyed the auto tour, the nice visitor/interpretation center and we were able to walk some of the hiking trails. The refuge offers many other things to do like fishing, photographic opportunities and hunting. Bring your family (including children), binoculars, camera and enjoy what this part of northern Idaho has to offer.

Casino at Best Western Kootenai River Inn

Gaming center with an international flair, accepting both United States and Canadian currencies.

We try to go to the casino at least 4 times a year. It's a 5 hour drive for us it's worth it. The people who work there make it worthwhile. We don't always come out ahead, but that's gambling. The addition of the Canadian machines is a great addition. Happy hour is great and the food is wonderful. For a fun weekend getaway it's worth the drive. Make sure you visit the town when you are there. There is many great places in town.

Bonner's Books

Reviewed By Ronald S - Bonney Lake, Washington

We were camping in Bonner's Ferry and decided to window shop the old part of town. We stumbled across Bonner's Books, and the proprietor allowed us to bring our dog in with us (it was very hot outside). What a delightful store. I loved the electric trains up near the ceiling. We found some great used books by authors we knew, and picked up some books regarding local history and interest as well. They had an excellent variety, including some great gift ideas. Check 'em out on your way through. You may find that book that makes the trip even more memorable.

Boundary County Museum

Reviewed By CATTSAR - Provincetown, Massachusetts

There is a rather obscure sign marking this museum. There it is on the left side of the street as you enter town, at the end of the block. For a mere two dollars you are invited to a compact version of Boundary County history. Inside is a varied collection of every day life goods as well as merchandise from the past. Also of interest is the collection of old typewriters, adding machines and other obsolete items. The fire truck in the back is in mint condition. There are also replicas of the local doctor's offices, stores and the railroad station. Of particular interest was the intricate hand made clock exhibit. This is surey worth a few minutes of time while in Bonner's Ferry to find out about the early days and development of the town and area.

3-Mile Antique Mall

Reviewed By laears - Post Falls, Idaho

This antique mall/store has been on this corner of highway 2 for at least 10 years that I've been going to this area, open any time I've been in area and always worth stopping if you like that kind of thing. Pricing like most "Antique malls" little high but always worth asking if they will take less, lots to look at.
Plenty of parking in the area for trucks or RV, food and gas across the street and sometimes in the summer there is a fruit stand next door.
