Bolton (/ˈbɒltən/ ( listen) or locally [ˈbɜʏtn̩]) is a town in Greater Manchester in North West England. A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition. The urbanisation and development of the town largely coincided with the introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. Bolton was a 19th-century boomtown, and at its zenith in 1929 its 216 cotton mills and 26 bleaching and dyeing works made it one of the largest and most productive centres of cotton spinning in the world. The British cotton industry declined sharply after the First World War, and by the 1980s cotton manufacture had virtually ceased in Bolton.

My friends and I chose the Woodland Retreat for our annual reunion and we were not disappointed. Julie is a wonderful host and you instantly feel at ease in her beautiful home. We were spoiled straight away with our goodie bags and pastries and beverages on arrival. The treatments we received were first class, best facial and back massage ever and all the time Julie makes you feel at ease. It was lovely between treatments to have the time and tranquility to spend time with friends. Lunch was amazing and I’d definitely love to repeat the experience.

We were very impressed when we arrived because the grounds and the setting is beautiful. We received a really warm welcome from the staff at reception and because it was our first time they took the time to explain everything to us about the facilities. The leisure area, with different steam and sauna rooms and the infinity pool with the outdoor aspect is just fantastic. I do spa days and breaks on a regular basis and have never seen a leisure area with so much choice and so well layed out. We then went upstairs for our treatments and again we loved the way the space was sectioned with relaxation and coffee/tea room being separate. My therapist Tara was brilliant, she was knowledgable, friendly and very adept at her job. I had a back massage and it was one of the best i have ever had, i also had a mini facial which was a first for me but Tara has now converted me. She took time to explain the masques she used on me and what results i could expect, i would reccommend her in an instant. We then went to the relaxation area and had our prosecco, thank you Kamran. We enjoyed every minute of our day and everyone we met was friendly, eager to help and happy. Well done Village Spa :))
