We loved Marstrand but think it would be quite different in the height of the summer season. In late March early April none of the restaurants, shops or museums had opened yet. There is a well stocked grocery store, so important to book accommodations with facilities at this time of year. It was the perfect getaway in Covid times, our hotel had full protocols and cleaning in place. Lovely walking paths with benches placed frequently along the way to just sit and take in the breathtaking views. Ferry from the mainland runs every 15 minutes, very convenient between 6am and 11pm We would love to go back when Covid is stable and visit the shops, restaurants and museums. Great place for a short vacation in a most beautiful location with friendly locals. We met many on our walks who were pleasant and welcoming.

Beneath the surface of the ocean is a vast array of nutritious and tasty sources of food. Several of the seaweeds/algae that’s imported from from the other side of the globe are available right here! We would love to take you out into the archipelago and teach you to forage and cook this amazing new food! We forage for seaweed in Bohuslan at the west coast of Sweden. We sell it to top restaurants and shops. We also work with marine tourism and have seaweed safaris, cooking classes, seaweed kayaking tours and lectures.

My wife, son, and I took a tram, train, bus, and ferry from Gothenburg to arrive at the Carlstens fortress....about an hour in total to arrive in a beautiful traditional island village where one can visit the fortress. After a short walk up the hill and a coffee and waffle in the cafe, we spend several hours visit every possible nook and corner of this historic fort. From the upper ramparts one has amazing views of the harbor, the islands and out to the sea. With the historical book one has access to the story of the development of the fort and its time as a prison. Well worth the excursion!
