What to do and see in Birmingham, England: The Best Breweries

November 7, 2021 Franklyn Hardiman

The geographical heart of England, Birmingham started life as a sixth- century Anglo-Saxon village. Today, much of this city of over a million dates back to post-WWII redevelopment in the 1950s and 60s. Cutting edge museums and galleries, innovative theaters and excellent shopping have contributed to Birmingham's appeal as a weekend break destination. Don't miss the hopping bars and cafes of Gas Street Basin or the fascinating creatures at the National Sea Life Centre.

We attended the brew day experience in January as a business outing and found it to be a great day out. The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming, and from start to finish it really came across that their focus was to ensure we had a good day. The day was structured well, but at no point did we feel we were constrained or pushed to hurry up when we'd stopped for something to eat or drink. Our guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable of all aspects of the brewing process which made our trip informative, and he also gave all of us an opportunity to get involved whenever we wished. Sanjay and his team in the bar were very attentive and really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Our day included breakfast and lunch, which went far above expectations in terms of quality and quantity, and our individual tastes as to our drink of preference were accommodated throughout with a recommendation on what to try. We felt welcomed and engaged from start to finish and would recommend the experience to anyone looking for an informative but relaxed brew-day experience.
