My husband's pilot class 68A has a 50th reunion coming up this fall. We visited Hanger 25 and now wish ALL the class could have visited together. Martha Vierra is an excellent administrator and host who offered updates on usage and ownership of buildings and places familiar to the guys and breathed life into the exhibits as she shared stories and anecdotes about each of them. She even helped us find the 68-A yearbook (my husband doesn't even have a copy!) Martha said hanger isn't air-conditioned, but there's a MASSIVE ceiling fan (propeller?) that would feel like a wind tunnel if turned on "high." Two planes are outside, but the main exhibits and planes are indoors. Great gift shop with super-affordable items..even $12 t-shirts which are a steal! Drop a donation in the box to support this well-maintained collection of pilot class planes and memorabilia.

Not a large Museum, but a fascinating insight into local history. A very welcome hostess. Our visit was made more interesting by the Christmas Tree exhibition. This year 56 trees each decorated uniquely by a different organisation, school, individual family etc. Well done !

This Texas State Park was built in 1934-1935 by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps). The original buildings (pavilion and headquarters still stand today. The park shows its age, but a construction project is underway to improve the roads/park, so it should be better in the next few months.
At the top of the mountain, you will find the pavillion, a large playground, parking and restrooms. We saw a couple of women out walking their dogs on the morning we visited. It seems to be more of a local "city" park than a more widely used state park. This is not a destination that I would drive all the way out to Big Spring to visit.

The aquatic center offers fun for the entire family. Starting with the kiddie pool to the massive slides for the older children. Infants to teens and even adults will enjoy fun in the sun and splashing in the pools. Life guards are on duty to ensure safety.

Who da thunk that Big Spring would have one of the coolest, most chill cigar bars in West Texas?? Patrons have access to a full bar (no draft beer) and a decent selection of cigars (a little overpriced, but where else are you gonna go?), PLUS your choice of outdoor seating or indoor, in the luxurious confines of an old train car, complete with big leather chairs, board games, and drinks brought over from the bar car.
I can't wait to get back to this place! Everyone was friendly, and the "smoking" train car was a nice touch!

Family owned, 24 lane bowling center. Modern lanes and scoring system. Automatic bumpers for the kids. Pro shop with accredited ball drillers. Snack bar with large menu from pizza to Tex/Mex and great hamburgers. Beer and wine based drinks also available. Only game in town.
This is a state of the art bowling house with league bowling & plenty of open bowling available most of the time. They have a great snack bar & games for the kids that don't want to bowl. Very clean & well maintained. Professionally run by pro bowlers that even give lessons.

Like the city of Big Spring, the golf course near the state park, has gentle slopes. A nice change from many flat courses you see in West Texas.Weekday greens fees are $18, and they offer a twilight discount of 50%. In the summertime, you can golf for $9 after 4 p.m.
You can rent a cart for as little as $12.50 on nine holes.
There's a pro shop and snack bar, too.
Nice way to spend a summer/weekend afternoon.

This art gallery is epic!! Finally, a place in my hometown where local artists can interact & network with folks they can relate to. Big Spring has needed a place like this for ages, because art & artist culture will be a great benefit to the community.
