The pre-historic cave paintings depict life in the Neolithic age.
This is an awesome place for a day trip near Bhopal. There are some 15 caves with rock painting from various eras of human history. The view from the site is great and so is the drive up the hill. The place is very well organised and it ends up being a small hike around the hill as you tour through the caves.

This is the best and most well maintained part of the city. There is a nice walkway alongside the lake. Early morning you can come across a variety of birds chirping and joggers. There are nice food stalls where you can try local delicacies. Paddle boars and Canoes can be hired at nominal fee.

It's best to visit Van Vihar around 4 pm in the evening. You will catch a lot of animals. You can easily spot deers such as barasingha, black buck, cheetal etc. grazing in the hill or down by the lake. Langoors are almost everywhere. Occasionally you can spot a wild boar on or around the main road. Plenty of birds to see as well. The best part is the western lights falling onto the hill as the sun sets into the lake. The whole scenery is just beautifully serene and calming. Plenty of carnivores as well to see which are kept in secluded large enclosures according to their breed. Its a very safe and fun place to visit with friends, family and small kids.
