My friend and I are training for the Pittsburgh to DC bike trip in September so this was out first outing on the Montour Trail and we were pleased. It is well maintained and the tree canopy is lovely. The National Tunnel was a pleasant surprise and a nice stretch of cool on a hot day. We plan to go back next week.

South Park has many great walking trails. You could spend an entire day just visiting the trails. There is a small animal preserve with peacocks, turkeys, geese and a small herd of buffalos. There are swimming pools and wave pools (in season) and ice skating rink (in season also).

We live about 35 minutes away from Trax but we try to get there as often as possible. It's in a more rural area, of course, so the drive is an enjoyable part of the whole experience as well.
Trax provides a lot of fun for the entire family. Certain weekends they sponsor festivals including a wine festival coming up soon. There is an area set aside for a flea market which is held during the winter months. My favorite is the outdoor nursery where they have a large area for trees, shrubs and numerous other plants for sale. There is an area for houseplants and garden plants also.
If you need garden or patio furniture, bird baths, flower pots, wind chimes etc., it is all here. The staff will help you with any questions you may have as we learned when we had a problem with weeds in our lawn.
There is a place set aside for a deli and hot foods plus there are baked goods for sale. Fortunately there are tables in case you care to eat while you are there. We have also purchased wine there and they are more than happy to offer samples if you ask. We did like the blackberry wine we tried and purchased a bottle to take home.
If you like old decorative items of any kind, explore upstairs where it feels like you are entering the past. Everything from old Christmas ornaments to old kitchen items are available for sale. The framed pictures are one of my favorite things to check out.
Set enough time aside to enjoy Trax farms -----it's worth the trip!

Bicycle Heaven is the World's largest bicycle museum and bike shop.
After reading about this establishment on TripAdvisor we felt compelled to visit and we were absolutely delighted we chose to do so. The building is unassuming but step inside and I felt transported to a different world. There were bikes everywhere, of every description and vintage. The ether smelled of bikes. My memory was taken back to my childhood and cycling in the hills with my pals on their Raleigh Choppers. Over 3000 bicycles crammed into every nook and cranny. I felt the passion of the person who had amassed this wonderful collection. What a place, what fun, what nostalgia.

They were SUPER friendly and did a GREAT job drilling the holes in my bowling ball. A friend who bowls competitively recommended them and I do, too. Wonderful service!

This course can be both challenging and rewarding at the same time. Hole #3 and #18 will test your skills with strong second shots over the water hazards...while many of the other holes reward accurate tee shots, that lead to a nice approach to the green.
The grounds are always well maintained, the staff is friendly, and the greens fees are competitive compared to other courses within a thirty minute drive. The pace of play is steady, and it's always a fun time, even if you're not the winner of your foursome.

This retro, yet modern, urban park incorporates classic design elements with modern amenities for both spectators and athletes.
Went to the Pirates opening day as a part of our MLB Stadium tour and was not impressed. Pirates fans were great and created a good atmosphere but the facility itself was a disappointment. Stale, cold pretzels on opening day at the start of the game, Summer Shandy for $13.50/can. Multiple bathrooms had over flowing toilets.... was not managed well. Expect more from an MLB stadium....

We visited based on reviews and were disappointed. Service was quite slow and our waitress was unable to answer basic questions - how many wings are in a single order? She said she's been there since Jan. Seems like enough time to absorb basic information.
The marinara sauce tasted like it was poured directly from a tomato sauce can. The wings had no zip at all.
The menu is very limited. We were told a new chef came on board and changed everything. We will not be back.

Located directly south of downtown Pittsburgh, this lively neighborhood boasts an active business district in addition to scenic parks and recreational activities.
We took the Monongehela Incline up and walked aways to spectacular outlook point of the Pittsburgh skyline. The fountain were the rivers meet was not working (cold-n-snowy) but on a sunny day I imagine that spot combined with looking out at the "yellow" bridges that line the rivers is spectacular. Monterray Bay Restaurant is located there. Shiloh Street was a local neighborhood street with shops, bars, a diner, and bakery. Pretty area.
