The town is best known for its art festivals, historic restaurants and buildings, and as the home to Berea College, a private, liberal arts college. The population was 13,561 at the 2010 census. It is one of the fastest-growing towns in Kentucky, having increased by 27.4% since 2000.

We found this quaint little place and thoroughly enjoyed talking with the owners/potters and looking around the gallery. They gave us a very interesting demonstration of what they do. We found several things we had to bring home and will probably either go back or order some pieces from them again. Gorgeous pottery!

Friendly staff and artisan. Amazing glass blown handiwork. Absolutely beautiful. Sadly no glass blowing was being done the day we visited, but we enjoyed looking around, talking to the glass blower and shop keeper and seeing the glass blowing workshop. The glasswork is amazing. So many beautiful items. I found a beautiful unique gift for a friend.

This is by far the best “rest area” ever. About 1/2 mile off I-75 south of Lexington. It’s exceptionally clean, with a staffed information desk, nice bathrooms, and a great selection of local arts and craft items for sale. There’s also a cafe that offers very reasonably priced hot meals, as well as snacks and drinks, with both indoor and outdoor seating. We’ll definitely stop here again the next time we’re driving through.
