The Beloit Snappers are a Minor League Baseball team based in Beloit, WI and are a Class-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics in the MiLB Midwest League. The Snappers play their home games at Pohlman Field and have been providing affordable, family entertainment to Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois since 1982.
Last week I had the pleasure of going to a Snapper game. From the lady at the ticket window, to servers, greeters, and of course Snappy, I was made to feel welcomed and appreciated. The Snapper games are always so much fun with different activities for all ages throughout the course of the entire game. If you go on an evening when they offer a fireworks show you will not be disappointed--they are phenomenal!!! Cost of value exceeds my expectations every time I go!!

The mill is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 1-4pm, May-October. Beckman Mill is located at Beckman Mill County Park, 6 miles west of Beloit, Wisconsin. On the grounds of the 50-acre county park you will see an authentically restored 1868 grist mill, a new dam, mill pond, fish ladder, foot bridge, saw mill display, 1840s cooperage, visitor center, gift shop, creamery, blacksmith shop, picnic shelter, vintage garden, nature trail and more. The showpiece of the park is the Beckman Mill, the restoration of which was completed in 1997 by the Friends of Beckman Mill's volunteer work crew. It is operational with power being supplied by its original 1860s water driven Leffel turbine. In the event alternate power is needed, the mill can be operated by its vintage two-cylinder gasoline engine. The mill was built shortly after the Civil War by millwright William Howe of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. In 1882 it was acquired by August Beckmann who had previously operated mills in nearby Juda and Hanover. The mill was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. We stop here most Sundays in the fall in mid morning and bring home a weeks worth of fresh tasty apples, donuts and other treats. They grow apples on site and make the apple cider donuts fresh in front of you. Apple pies, caramel apples, popcorn, jams, spices, sauces etc. They usually have several types of apples cut up for tasting which is neat to be able to try different types. Parking is usually ample and they frequently have someone cooking outside selling sandwiches for a good cause.
