My teenage son and I visited this train museum at his request. It was wonderful! Almost all of the information was houses within train cars that you were left to explore. There were engines, cabooses, mail cars, box cars, dining cars.... It was fun to climb into athe next train and discover the history and information provided there. The museum was on both sides of the street and next to a live train track, which gave us even more entertainment as a local Norfolk Southern came by. It was worth every penny and completely enjoyable.

The Sorrowful Mother Shrine is one of the oldest places of pilgrimage dedicated to Mary in the Midwest. In 1850, Fr. Francis de Sales Brunner, built on this site a small red brick chapel in honor of Our Mother of Sorrows. He had a great devotion to Mary who guided him and his priests safely to the New World from Germany and Switzerland. Fr. Brunner founded this shrine to minister to the newly arrived German Catholic farmers in Northwest Ohio. Twenty years later, in 1870, a second larger chapel replaced the original chapel. On Assumption Day in 1912, the chapel burned. Within two years, the chapel was built and remains on the grounds today. To accommodate the growing number of pilgrims who were coming to the Shrine for spiritual help, to seek physical cures, and to simply nourish their souls, an Outdoor Pieta Chapel was constructed and dedicated in 1968. The Sorrowful Mother Shrine is a devotional landmark in northern Ohio. If in the area, a stop to this Shrine is a must.
This is a beautiful shrine and gorgeous grounds. Definitely worth the trip. Easy ride. The church is just beautiful very holy.

Calling all history buffs! Lyme Village has a historic mansion, and a vast assortment of historic structures, from a post office, to a school, a church, a cabin and a hardware store, all from the past and filled with original photos and artifacts. My tour was an hour and a half and most enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

A friend and I visited Seneca Caverns for the first time last week. I have been through other cavern systems in Ohio and other states. Knowing this is the only tourable fracture cave makes this unique. The tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable. The cavern itself is beautiful. One warning for those who wish to experience this type of spelunking......there are very narrow spaces and low-hanging rocks throughout. Some of the climbs are steep. They will tell you this before you purchase a ticket, but this type of experience is NOT for everyone. Those who are claustrophobic or cannot climb well should probably pass on the cave experience. The gift shop is nice with lots of souvenirs.
