This ornate Moorish temple is among the most revered religious sites in the region.
This is a beautiful church both inside and out. It was the one stop that we made on our panoramic sightseeing tour of Belem (Easy Belem). It was built during the rubber boom and is an elaborate copy of St. Paul's Basilica in Rome. The outside fence is covered with colourful ribbons, each of which represents a wish.

Gardens and a zoo are part of this spectacular museum.
This combo zoo/botanical park was gorgeous. I wish I'd had 3 hours instead of only one. I'd also recommend going in the morning instead of afternoon like our tour was, because the animals would be more active. Our tour guide was excellent and taught us a lot about the flowers and trees of the rain forest that were there. I loved seeing the spotted jaguar, the toucans and ibis, the giant otters, the spider monkeys, and the huge lily pads.

Really nice place to make a stop, enjoy the view at the river, have an ice cream, lunch, dinner or whatever you like. I recommend it!

In this fortress, located in a square, where there are also the Santo Alexandre Church (Museum of Baroque Art), Sé Cathedral, and the Casa das Onze Janelas (a charming house with eleven windows), is a pictoresque place, great for beautiful photos with the Guajará bay in the background, And much history about the colonization of this beautiful city.

We walked 500 m southwest from our Hotel Le Massilia to the Republic Square, site of three prominent Neoclassic buildings; the tan Teatro Experimental Waldemar Henrique, the red Art Science Institute and this 1878 Teatro da Paz. After paying 3 BRL for seniors, we waited for the next hourly tour to start. Fortunately it was conducted by an eager bilingual guide who tailored his speech between Portuguese and English. Especially interesting were the details concerning ventilation, the addition of AC in the 70'S, and the ceiling paintings throughout.

Beautiful place with a lot of nature! The light house has a great view! Is a must see in Belem, tickets are cheap and service are very polite and friendly!
