Beckenham is a post town and district of London in the London Borough of Bromley, England. It borders Beckenham Place Park and Bellingham in the London Borough of Lewisham (to the north) and is centred 8.4 miles (13.5 km) south east of Charing Cross. Until the coming of the railway in 1857, Beckenham was a small village, with most of its land being rural and private parkland. A family of entrepreneurs began the building of villas which led to a rapid increase in population, between 1850 and 1900, from 2,000 to 26,000. Housing and population growth has continued at a lesser pace since 1900.

This gorgeous park caters for all tastes and all age groups. It has a nice big enclosed children’s playground with all the traditional things like swings, slides and climbing apparatus but there’s much more. There are lakes with ducks, geese and swans to name a few birds, but there are also squirrels aplenty. Some of them will even come right up to you if you have some bread to offer. Taking a walk through Kelsey Park, particularly in bright sunny weather is pure joy, and it costs nothing unless you visit the cafe or ice cream van! Toilets are also available.

Whilst waiting for a restaurant reservation I had the chance to sit in the church grounds and just think. Whilst there is a lot of traffic around, the grounds were peaceful and a nice spot to sit rather than rush through to either car park or high street.

Lovely local park with a fenced playground for the kids. Splash pool available in hot weather. A lot of green open space and tennis courts. Great for kids to run around and ride the bikes/scooters.

Love this park as it feels like spending a day in the countryside. Ancient woodlands , wild swimming lake , ancient pond , river ravensbourne & huge open fields make this park special in London. Great children’s play area too. Fine cafe in stable block & stunning Georgian mansion.
