An easy way to vacation on Beaver Island with your own car. Early reservations needed particularly for July. Very friendly staff loads your car on the ferry and unloads it on the other end. You can either enjoy the fresh air on the outside decks...MoreThank you for your review! We appreciate all feedback and hope you choose to ride the boat again soon! - BIBCO

This historical site of 19th-century Mormon followers is now a quiet, quaint attraction.
A great place to get away from the fast-paced world of the mainland. Lots of beautiful forest and natural areas, beautiful coastlines, sunset views, campgrounds, and parks.

If you are like me, when I travel, I seek out interesting and unusual people and places to visit. Mary takes the cake. She is an amazing lady who has fashioned a life of creativity and one of a kind Toy Shop. Do not miss seeing her place. Ask Mary to tell you how she found Beaver Island and built her first house.
There is a video on UTube. Try to see it before you go.

This place is the heart and soul of Beaver Island! It is located right across from the Beaver Island Boat Company docks. The first place to visit when you get off the boat.
The staff was so pleasant and helpful. They can direct you to anything or place on the island.
The center is a lovely building, very up to date. The auditorium was comfortable, acoustically pleasing and easily accessible. There is so much to do there. I was with the group that went birding. The center welcomed us and didn't ask us to leave even when the birding was finished. It is very inviting.
You can get a cup of coffee, meet islanders, and browse lots of brochures available about everything island.
Stop in to say hi, stay because it's just so inviting.

Beaver Head Lighthouse is actually located on East Side Drive at the Southern end of Beaver Island. It is one of only a very few Light Towers one can climb unattended (another is Peninsula Point in the Michigan UP). The building has been saved and maintained since it's deactivation in 1962. If you don't take your own vehicle across to Beaver Island, rent a car for the day and drive two blocks on Main Street to the South, turn right on Bonner Street, go one block, turn left onto King’s Highway. From there, travel appx. six miles South, at the T-Intersection turn East (left) onto Hannigan Road, go one & one-third mile and merge in with East Side Drive, going South (right). Follow East Side Drive for appx. nine miles to the Lighthouse, pull into the small parking lot. The day we were there was picture perfect, and we had a picnic there, hanging around a couple of hours on the grounds. There seemed to be no problem climbing the steps to the Lantern Room of the Tower. Yes, the windows were a bit dirty, but window washers are hard to come by in these parts. We had a very pleasant solitary time at the Lighthouse visit, one of the more peaceful spots on our travels. There is another Lighthouse Tower on Beaver Island, the St. James Harbor Light (aka Whiskey Point) which can be seen as you enter the Harbor, to the North side. It is about one mile by road from where the Ferry docks, up towards the North on Main Street. You can hike, bike, or drive to that one, but can not access the Tower, as it is still a working Light. To people interested in seeing and photographing Lighthouses, a trip to Beaver Island is highly recommended.
A guided bike tour of the harbor area.We will make several stops to hear some history as well as some “beaver tales”. The standard tour will cover about 3mi and will take about 1 ½ hrs. Longer more energetic tours are available as are flexible times. You may use your bike or rent a bike from one of the bike rentals.Don't just visit, learn about it.
