When this "new" Catholic Church was built several years ago I photographed the first wedding in it. The church and the priest and the interesting singing was fun.

Thibault Gallery

Reviewed By toniroger - Carlsbad, United States

I love the eclectic collections in this cozy gallery so much that we wound up buying a Large Legacy Ship piece by Eric Thibault, one of the artists and co-owner (with his lovely wife, Mary) of the gallery. (Happy Early Birthday to me!!) I have my eye on some lovely turtles that Mary Thibault painted - and I see that their art is also available online to fully enjoy! I liked the way the art was set up - just a soothing and inspiring environment that’s so hard to say goodbye to. Plenty of open space to enjoy the art. I also like the presentation of the young artist Anthony Johnson whose work is unique - a priceless piece that had me staring and reflecting for quite some time! I can’t wait to see more of his work. They are open from 10-6 Monday through Saturday, practice safe social distancing / hygiene for Covid-19 and are the most welcoming people in South Carolina- which that’s saying a lot because most everyone is welcoming. Walking into their gallery was like being invited into their homes. :) can’t wait to visit with them again!

I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual tour of the Center today! It was very interesting to learn new things about Pat Conroy and how the Center continues Pat Conroy’s legacy of love of reading, writing, and teaching which he wanted to pass on to others. Jonathan Haupt was delightful! I can’t wait to make the trip to see the Center in person.

Every Second Counts Escape Rooms

If you seeking additional FUN or things to do while in Beaufort South Carolina visit us at our escape room on Lady's Island. Escape Rooms are the new form of live-action interactive entertainment sweeping the nation. There are different themed rooms in which groups of people participate. These groups usually consist of friends, family members, and co-workers who must work together as a team to solve a series of riddles, clues, hints, lockboxes, and strategies to complete the objectives at hand. The goal is to escape in 60 minutes or less by using your mind with critical thinking, problem-solving, team building and most importantly to have fun!

I’ve never been to an escape room before, but this one was a real good experience. I live in a small town so I thought the business wouldn’t last but it’s been running for over a year and I keep coming back for more. I’ve done nearly all the rooms and am excited to see what’s in store for their new rooms. I first visited with my friend and her family for the DaVinci room (we escaped!). Afterwards, all I could talk about was the mystery and fun of solving such a puzzle. You’re placed in a setting that is so different that it’s enough awe on its own. The rooms are all based on such cool things, not just your average mysteries like Sherlock Holmes but real creative stories that have such detailed backgrounds. The following week I convinced my family to have a go at the Area 51 room. It was crazily bizarre and we loved it. So much bonding and fun, the time seemed to pass too quickly. I didn’t go for a while because it is expensive (although, I think this type of genre of entertainment is meant to be costly because honestly I can’t imagine it’s cheap to provide such an experience). My same friend and her family brought me back for their second go around on the Criminally Insane room. It was insane, and I loved it. We were the first group to escape (with only 30 seconds to spare) and got free T-shirts! Afterwards, the owners came back and explained certain aspects of the room that people find challenging or just interesting facts as well as praising and critiquing our teamwork. You can see the excitement light up in their eyes as they rush into details concerning these magnificent realities they’ve placed customers in. They truly love what they do and I think that itself enhances the experience. A week later I was back with a mixed party of friends and family to do Grandpa Jack’s Attic and was not let down at all. No spoilers but having seen 4 rooms I absolutely love how the background of the story affects such minor details in the rooms like even size (don’t think that’s a spoiler especially considering I worded it so oddly it’s kind of confusing on its own). Anyways, we escaped with 7 minutes left and I’m excited to do the final room in the future if I can find a party who hasn’t completed it. I know this is long, and thanks to anyone who kept up with my long winded review. Just wanted to express every detail of how much I love this business, and not only the originality of the rooms, but the workers whose joys and excitements amplify the experience.

We usually find the place for chocolate wherever we go as a special treat. Learned about this after taking a tour that mentioned this was the place Tom Hanks selected the chocolate for his "life is a box of chocolates" scene in Forest Gump. The guide and Tom were right -- so very good -- so many choices -- so worth the visit-- event walking in the rain.
