DaVinci in Death Valley: Belgian sculptor carves his rendition of The Last Supper in copper.
I guess some Belgium artist came here and made these sculptures. It is very interesting to see. There are other abstract type of art but not a whole lot. You have to combine this with the Rhyolite ghost town since they are next to each other, If the museum is open, drop by as your own risk. The man was not nice to me. I would have given a score of five if the curator was nicer.

On our way to Death Valley we stopped off for lunch at the subway housed in the same shop.
We stocked up on candy for the car. There was so much choice that by time everyone in the party had bought a few bags we had a mini tuck shop in the car. All great tasting candy. Can see why people drive from far and wide to visit. Prices were fair for the size of bag we got.
Recommend a stop if in the area.

It's free and has some interesting things inside but nothing really too critical to see. We stopped for about 30 minutes and there's a clean bathroom.

A ghost town with real character, the town of Rhyolite was founded in 1904 due to what many believed to be a rich strike of ore, but alas, was not meant to be.
it is there for public safety but it ruins the pictures for all the photographers who come here. Most building structures are gone. If you going somewhere and you happen to pass this place, then stop. I would not drive hundreds of miles just to see this place- not worth the effort.

Loved this bar for the atmosphere, the local characters that hang out there and the chili wasn't bad. stick to beer though- I made the mistake of ordering wine-yuck. Apparently, the story is that the owners of this bar won a chili contest, bought an ice cream parlor and tuned it into this bar. It's a perfect ending to a day trip from Las Vegas to visit Rhyolite Ghost Town and Goldwell Open Air Museum.

Noted the small Cemetery sign going to the Goldwell Open Air Museum on the left side.
This is a unmaintained dirt road. Turn on Side road, and left again on dirt road. Go down and you will see gate on left that leads into the Cemetery. There is a monument that has been placed near the entrance that gives some information on the Cemetery.
Most graves are just mounds of dirt, some have fencing around, some have plaques. Walk carefully there will be snakes sometimes. Fairly large areas. About 1 Mile from Rhyolite. Leave as you found it, do not disturb.

This is a must for supper if you get through Beatty NV. They have pizza and beer but we got lucky and it was a feed...ribeye that melted in my mouth, baked potato, corn on the cob, salad, rolls and beer! We weren't even supposed to be in Beatty. It was destiny.

If you fancy chilling out in mineral water at 94 degrees straight out of the Mohave dessert getting away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas, this is the place to visit. All the hot springs are enclosed with private changing and only $8 dollars each, roughly 125 miles out of Vegas through stunning dessert scenery just out of the town of Beatty.
I've visited here numourous times over the years and I still go back when I get the chance I can only say good things about the place and the owners I'd highly recommend a visit.
