The Cheddar and Ale Trail is a collection of close to a dozen artisanal cheese, beer and hard cider producers in the Bay of Quinte Region. The property features a restored century Barn suitable for special events, a Barrel House offering live demonstrations weekly and daily tastings of Local Barrel Aged Wine Vinegars, Fruit Vinegars & Reductions, Giant Oak Sherry Casks, a Make-Your-Own-Wine facility located in the cellar of the Tasting Centre and now Gourmet Wood Fired Pizza served outback amongst the vines. Recipient of the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence, Black Prince has produced fine wines for over 15 years and are proud to be one of the oldest County wineries with a well-appointed Tasting Centre. The Estate vineyard includes Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and some hybrids. Black Prince was the first to use local County oak barrels to age their wines and vintage after vintage the wines receive awards nationally and internationally. Visit this summer to learn more about the lost craft of wine barrel-making and witness live demonstrations at the Cooperage on selected weekends.
