A Monkey/Sloth Sanctuary and a City Tour is perfect for all age family’s and couples looking for something less touristic do on the island and don’t want to be off the ship for long. We meet you outside your cruise terminal to take you over to the monkey/Sloth Hang-out to get up close to the animals to photograph and learn about the different species of animal on the Island. Followed by a city tour where you will hear and learn about the rich history of the Island, which includes Indians, slaves, invaders, pirates, buried gold, and a charming blend of cultures, people and languages. You will pass through several of the villages including Coxen Hole, Barrio Los Fuertes and French Harbor, the second-largest town on the island. On the way back, enjoy a short stop at another panoramic point to view a faraway picturesque stilt-village, Oak Ridge, inhabited by pirates in the past and now the actual home of family-owned fishing companies that after many decades are still the second biggest industry of the island.
