In January 2018, I visited Siwa and the White Desert with Loly. This is my second trip to the White Desert with Loly and I have referred many other people to him.
Loly is from a local Bedouin family and knows the desert intimately. Loly has been doing these tours for many years and is well organised. You never have to worry about anything. He will provide you with an unforgettable experience and instill a love for the desert into you. No effort is too much and he will do his utmost to deliver on all your requests. It is a pleasure to be in his company and once you did a trip with him, you become a friend of him. His positive attitude and energy makes your trip an experience you will never forget. If you wish to visit any place in the Western Desert, then Loly is the person to contact.
PS: Please note that his company is Egypt Western Desert Tours and is a different company from Western Desert Tours.
On date of this review, EVERY review for his company has been a solid 5!!!

We took the 2 days trip to white and black desert. Everything went as planned, perfect organisation and punctuality.
The food, even in the desert, was delicious and they also care a lot about the desert and the environment, leaving everything clean after we left.
The white desert is wonderful and absolutely worth seeing!

Amazing experience. My girlfriend and I booked this on a whim after hearing about it through Dhaab hostel. This was without a shodow of a doubt our best days in Egypt. Ahmed was our wonderful guide. He was warm, knowledgeable, and even invited us into his house. Not to mention a great cook! Take a look at these photos, they speak for themselves! Thank you everyone at Oasis Egypt Safari and Dhaab hostel.

Serving as the agricultural center in Pharaonic times exporting great quantities of wine to the Nile Valley, this oasis is now famous for it dates and olives.
Bahareya is an excellent oasis; centres around the main town of Bawiti it is equally good as a destination in its own right or as a staging post for desert trips. I always stay at Badri's place, Desert Safari Home, and have used it as a base for everything from quiet cycling tours round the oasis to full-scale desert trips to Libya and the Sudan. The White Desert is handily nearby as is the Black Desert, as well as various ancient sites including the Valley of the Golden Mummies and some spectacular fossil sites. Well worth a visit or six!

Highly recommended tour!!! We had such a wonderful time. Hamada is awesome. He listens to you and your concerns and can tailor a trip to what you want. The food is amazing! Unlike other 2 night tours we spent both nights camping in the desert! I wouldn't hesitate to go with Hamada for a second!

It is our pleasure to introduce you our services in Private Daily tours to the White desert and oasis in the western desert of Egypt and it's oasis
1. We felt extremely lucky that our White and black desert safari was orgainzed by Ahmed (Desert Blanc Day Tours) because we booked from a travel agency.
2. The facilities and gears are all well kept. We traveled by land cruiser, and stayed in a lavishly decorated 'tent' with down sleeping bag. He prepared sanitary facilities (water tank and wet tissues) as well, making the condition more comfortable.
3. Ahmed is a very kind, generous man, and experienced driver and guide at the same time. He is local to Bawiti and entertained us in his house with great meal. He tried everything to serve our demands and made the trips very pleasant and happy. We had great dishes, exciting activities (sand board, sightseeings, driving etc.) We had really fun time in the desert.
Definitely recommend Desert Blanc to anyone who wants to go there!

A spectacular formation of quartz crystals... well, it was once. Sadly these days it seems every passing car stops and hacks a lump off it. Interesting and a well-known landmark for navigation and as a rendezvous but there are far better crystal formations out in the desert - so let the trippers desecrate this one and keep the rest quiet!

You can walk/climb to the Gebel al Ingleez, north-east of Bawiti. At the flat top are the remains of a castle from the first world war, built by captain Williams to control the area. From the top, but also half way, you have a nice view at the surrounding mountaineous and bare area.
A low hill on the approach to Bawiti whose name means 'hill of the English', this is crowned with a ruined house that was said to be built by the 'Englishman' (actually Australian) Claude Williams, first World War army captain and commander of the Light Car Patrols. It is said that he built the house as his home and headquarters whilst the LCP units (using Model T Fords) kept an eye on marauding Senussi tribesmen coming into Egypt from Libya. Recent research casts doubt on this however. Nevertheless its a fascinating ruin that you can easily access from the road with a competently-driven 4x4 or on foot or mountain bike and there are stunning views from the top, although they are a little spoiled by the stench of human urine and the Arabic graffiti everywhere.

I would stay far, far away from here. We were driven to the location and it's a bunch of tiny alleys. There are abandoned homes on all sides, with trash mounds all over the place. Graffiti all over the walls. Personally I didn't feel very safe and didn't even want to get out of the car.
This isn't a heritage site. Think of a neighborhood that has been condemned but never demolished. That's Old Bawiti. Spend your time elsewhere.
