We are a fun Cambodian cooking school and restaurant.what you have cooked when you have finished! morning classes start at 9am, afternoon classes at 3:30pm.
This was booked for us by our tour company and I was slightly ambivalent about going, but am so glad I did. Interesting and informative and the food we cooked was really tasty - probably the best spring rolls I have ever had ( and I have had many!). Definitely inspired to make them at home.

My name is Vannak, I have been a cook all my life and decided, 20 years ago, to open my own cooking school, Smokin'Pot. Located in the countryside, this Khmer Cooking class gives you an authentic experience of Cambodia. Not only will you acquire the knowledge and secrets of Khmer cuisine but you will also get to use traditional unique equipment & techniques. Join our small groups for a more personal atmosphere. We'll take you on a culinary adventure from the local market back to our heartfelt traditional family kitchen, where you will prepare 3 delicious meals of your choice. Our cooking classes cost just $12 and include; - Free pick-up from your Hotel - Tour of a traditional local village market - All Cooking Ingredients - Smokin' Pot Recipe Book - Drop off at your Hotel
Vannak’s class is a must-do in Battambang! Everything was delicious and logistics were so easy. Vannak was very responsive over email and picked us up from our hostel in town right on time at 9am. From there we went to his local market, outside of town where all his neighbors go. After purchasing all your ingredients from the market Vannak asks if you want to walk to his home (where you’ll be cooking) or take a tuk tuk. We highly recommend the walk! It’s just 20 minutes, nice and flat, and you get to learn about all the fruit trees and other produce that is grown and later sold in the market. We made three delicious dishes and can’t wait to try it at home - he even emails you the recipe after. The way you learn to cook here is 100% traditional, which we wouldn’t have had from a cooking class in the center of town. With Vannak, you cook from a clay/charcoal stove, make coconut milk from scratch, make your own banana leaf bowl for the fish amok. Lastly, I recommend booking the class directly through Vannak’s website - all inquiries are sent directly to him and he is so helpful and quick to respond. Thank you Vannak!

The team at Nary Kitchen showed us an awesome time this morning. They came to pick us up from our accommodation, then walked us down to the market to get everything we needed to make our dishes. Over a couple of hours we made some delicious spring rolls, a fish amok a beef lok lak and a dessert. The food was great, Ro, our instructor, was hilarious and very skilled plus, we even left with a recipe book so we could recreate the meals we learnt (and more) back at home. It was great value for only $10 USD. Cheers mate! Had an awesome time.
