ItaliAnna - Food & Wine Tours

A true and authentic personalized guided tour by a local focusing on food & wine. Piemonte is no Napa Valley, and sometimes it can be useful to have a translator on hand, someone to book tastings (hard to do walk-ins here), and of course drive you around these confusing Italian roads! I hope my enthusiasm and passion for wine will make your experience even more fun. Quindi dai...Andiamo!

Cantina Francesco Borgogno

In a location eloquently symbolic of Barolo, right at the interface between Barolo’s historic Cannubi hill and La Morra’s Brunate, born our winery founded in the early 1930s that is the classic family-run wine estate. We own approx 5 hectars of land and we produce every year 25.000 bottles of wine always using classical method with ageing in big wood barrels without use of barriques.

This family winery is set in a beautiful location. Silvia gave us such a warm and friendly welcome. We tried 4 of their red wines and the pours were very generous. Silvia also provided cheese, salami, bread sticks and an assortment of cookies that went perfectly with the Barolo! The Barolo was our favorite and they have older vintages available for purchase so you can enjoy them now! We also got a beautiful wooden case to add to our collection! Silvia makes hazelnut meringue style cookies that were really delicious and they’re available for purchase as well as her homemade jam. We met Francesco as he was passing through the room and he stopped to welcome us and shake our hand. A wonderful winery and really great staff!

Antiche Cantine Marchesi Di Barolo

In juli 2020 we visited the winery of Marchesi di Barolo. The winery is very nice located and decorated. We had a guided tour during which we learned about the history and the way the wines are stored. It was very facinating to see the big wine barrels in which the wines are stored untill they are ready to be bottled. The tour ended in the shop where all their wines can be bought. Unfortunately the wine tasting was limited due to COVID-19. We bought some wines which tasted fantastic. In short it was a very interesting visit which we can recommend to everyone visiting the Barolo area.
