Founded over 350 years ago, the town of Baie-Saint-Paul is nestled in a valley located on the northern shore of the Saint Lawrence River. Known as the birthplace of Cirque du Soleil, Baie-Saint Paul is one of Quebec’s oldest municipalities featuring narrow streets lined with charming boutiques and art galleries. Popular attractions include the Carrefour culturel Paul-Médéric and Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul; Maison René-Richard and Le Massif de Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. The latter is a popular scenic 6-kilometer drive down the mountain to the St. Lawrence River.

We have a small dog and we walked these trails this afternoon. How incredibly peaceful and lovely. Great views of the river blended with the peace of a quiet walk and in the woods made a real mini vacation..

A great gallery featuring many Québec artists and a few sculptures. There is something for everyone to see at Iris. Definitely worth a visit!

Tomato wine !!! - who would have thought ? A bit sceptical, I still decided to venture up this little side road to find the rustic boutique in its pastoral setting. A gift - an absolute gift from the Universe - to enter the world of tomato wine. From sceptical, I quickly became a true believer... I've shared a bottle with friends who were lost for words - this wine is so unique and delightful. Well worth the stop.

This is a relatively small garden park dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. It has been beautifully done with lovely plantings, walkway, and a gurgling stream. It's the nicest park we have ever been to. It's right next to the railroad station and only takes twenty or so minutes to visit unless you want to meditate there for a while. Entry is free.
