What to do and see in Atlanta, Georgia (GA): The Best Nightlife

March 6, 2022 Kaleigh Reichenbach

Atlanta has been dubbed everything from the "capital of the new South" and "the next international city" to "the best place to do business." It's also a great place to visit. Fueled by the prosperity of local mega companies like Coca Cola and Holiday Inn, the prestige of hosting the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and the energy of young upwardly mobile types who have migrated to the city in droves - Atlanta is on fire. And this time it's a good thing. From world-class restaurants and a myriad of cultural attractions to a hip nightlife and sporting events galore, the city is cosmopolitan in every sense of the word. But Atlanta has also managed to maintain its historic character. Stop by the Atlanta History Center or visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site, a moving tribute to an American icon. Browse through the former home of famous author Margaret Mitchell or pop into the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum for details on the life and times of the former president and his family. Whether you choose modern urban endeavors or old southern pleasures, Atlanta will not disappoint.

Atlanta Magic Theater

After six years of performing the highest-rated show in San Francisco at The Marrakech Magic Theater, two years at the original Atlanta Magic Theater in the Old Fourth Ward, magician and owner Peter Morrison has brought his incredible 75-minute stage show with pre-show close up magic to the Embassy Suites on Centennial Olympic Park. This two-part experience involves close-up and stage magic, mentalism and tons of audience involvement. Cherished memories will be made during Peter’s unique magic and comedy performance! If you wish to enjoy close-up magic before the theater show, we encourage you to come early to our pre-show function area located just around the corner from our Main Theater entrance. During this time, magician Peter Morrison will personally greet you and perform mind-boggling sleight-of-hand magic for your party. Drinks can be purchased from Ruth’s Chris bar on the other side of the atrium and enjoyed during the pre-show and brought into theater at show time.

My sister and I were visiting Atlanta for the first time and we stumbled upon the Magic Show via Google Maps. We bought our tickets immediately because of all the reviews and I’m so happy we did. This show was remarkable and I was absolutely amazed by his stage presence and the show overall. I’d definitely recommend for anyone visiting Atlanta! Great fun for everyone!

Blind Willie's

I have visited Atlanta many times now since 2011, and Blind Willie;s is the place I go to feel the healing power of the blues. The staff does and great job, and now that the venue is non-smoking, I can recommend this spot for all. If you have never experienced the blues, welcome to the party at this stellar location in Virginia Highlands. Drinks are reasonable, the Shadows are one of the best blues bands around, and there is food, tho I prefer to eat a bit earlier in the evening. Stay for all the sets, you will be glad you did. I enjoy the bourbon flight option myself

Whole World Theatre

Whole World Theatre offers a truly unique blend of Improv and Theatre. The improvised comedy on our stage springs from our character-based reality, emotions, and experiences. Our actors are trained for this style of improv through our ongoing training programs. You, the audience members create the scenes by giving suggestions to the MC during the show, and/or to our Suggestion Circulators in the lobby pre-show. Our talented musicians play improvisationally to each scene to complete your comedic experience.

This was something my honey picked for us because it was her turn to pick the event for the night. It was a GREAT time. The theatre was stadium style so you don't miss anything and the performers were first rate and funny as hell. The cost was reasonably inexpensive but the quality of the performance was absolutely 1st rate. The Audience was fully engaged and it was improv comedy at its finest! If u wanna laugh all night this this the place! I highly recommend this for a great night out and lots of fun.

Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium

Reviewed By SusieQsassy - Atlanta, United States

Looking for a night spot that’s a little off the beaten path? A little crazy and a little naughty? Then go to Church on a Saturday night ;). This is the perfect, slightly sacrilege place where you will not find anywhere else like it. Grab a reasonably priced drink underneath the Jesus sign and the flying nun on roller skates, snap a drunk pic with your friends in the photo booth, play a ping pong game up stairs, and take a trip to “Hell” (the coolest surreal bathroom around). *Insider Tip: this is NOT the place if you are easily offended by religious items being used as decoration, so probably dont bring your devout Catholic grandma.
