Once known for smog, traffic and tacky architecture, Athens is a city reformed thanks to fortunes brought by the 2004 Summer Olympics. Spotless parks and streets, an ultra-modern subway, new freeways, an accessible airport and all signs in perfect English make the city easily negotiable. Meriting more than a stopover en route to the islands, sophisticated Athens sites include many pillars of Western history, from the Acropolis to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, as well as treasures in the National Archaeological Museum.

Cine Trianon was inaugurated in August 1961 with the premiere of Jules Dassin’s film "Never on Sunday" and since then continues to be one of the most active movie halls of Athens. Trianon operates all year long, both as a classic winter cinema and a traditional open-air cinema. During the summer organizes free screenings for visitors with the aim of promoting the Greek filming heritage.

Cine THISIO is an open air cinema and therefore is not opened in winter . Each year opening date depends largely on weather conditions. Typically, the operation of the cinema begins the last week of April or the first week of May and ends in late October. We don't make reservations and you can't book tickets, because we remain traditional, because the capacity of cinema is very large and because all seats are good . If you arrive about 30 minutes earlier you will buy your tickets in comfort, even in the extremely popular films.
If you have a free evening in Athens, this is a must. It's an outdoor cinema, and you can literally see the Acropolis from your seat. They have two showings each night, at 9 and 11 and if you go on Mon-Wed, the tickets are a little cheaper at €6. It feels like they tend to show the classics - I saw the original Italian Job, which was great! Bear in mind, if you catch the late show, the metro will not be running when you finish!
