Atascadero is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, about equidistant from Los Angeles and San Francisco on U.S. Route 101. Atascadero is part of the San Luis Obispo - Atascadero - Paso Robles metropolitan area. Atascadero is farther inland than most other cities in the county, and as a result, usually experiences warmer, drier summers, and cooler winters than other nearby cities such as San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach. Many screens, good sounds, high-tech viewing options if you want to pay up for them, clean, no higher priced than others in this area (given you will pay insanely, absurdly high prices for concessions no matter what theater you go to anymore). $7 Tuesdays...all shows all day. Nice points club adds up quickly for free movies and concessions. Love the VIP room, 21+ year olds only, alcohol served, very comfortable seats. Went last night, sat between two very large people but was never bothered due to large seats with plenty of elbow room. Good place to see a flick!

This lake is located in town, and what a treat it is to have such a great place to stroll, run, or ride your bike surrounded by calming water. The entire walk around the lake is about a mile - but, it’s so relaxing you won’t even notice how far you’ve walked.

The Lone Prince of SLOdippo goes on yet another SLO-dipitous journey. In dire need of liquid sustenance, we selected the discount store. After gazing upon a selection of fermented liquids, one caught the eye. It was not only made with local apples, but hailed from some craftsmen in the Quiet Village of Atascadero town. A singular sip & snort from the humble squat brown bottle made one's senses tingle. Savoring every drop of this golden brew, one could only wonder how to somehow find more. It was far easier than finding a blind lame camel in a far off land and involved a net thrown over the nearby lands north of us. As I cautiously & rather skeptically approached, the master of Cider magic revealed himself, as Cody the Cider King. Cody the Cider King was both kind and wise. Never before did I know what magical creations can be done with the variety of local Apples, amazing skill, & various scents & colors that one could barely guess at. One brew was more amazing and magical than the next. One would have guess that one pinkish brew involved some berries, but Cody the Cider King kindly redirected me to think more creatively. Indeed, it involved red beets, fennel, & numerous apples. Some brews involved sweeter apple varieties and some involved those on the more sour side. Some involved hard spirits, like whiskey, and some were aged in the old barrels that used to make them. I then headed home, with my precious new Ciders tucked carefully in the trunk of my Camel-less Conveyance.

Wine Bar and Wine Shop, with an excellent collection of hard-to-find wines, especially local small producers who have no other tasting room or distribution. (The best local wines you've never tasted!) Also, Home of Vinthesis, the bext generation of wine blending.
Grape Encounters is the brainchild of Dave and Annie Wilson. Dave has a extremely popular radio show by the same name that is carried by over 100 stations nationally. He and Annie have an amazing selection of CEntral Coast wines that you would have difficulty finding on your own. My wife and I both appreciate big, bold reds, and we had a chance to taste zinfandels, ruby cabernet, syrahs and a lovely GSM. They also carry Some Napa/Sonoma wines, as well as others from France and Italy. Very friendly hosts, no wine snobs here, they will absolutely help you find wine that you will want to take home! Also an amazing selection of wine accessories, bottle stoppers, wine preservation kits, all sorts of fun and different gifts for those who enjoy wine. Available cheeses, tasty crackers, locally produced olive oils and vinegars. Indoor and outdoor patio seating is available and live music on some evenings. An excellent stop in Atascadero that is out of the busier, more crowded Paso Robles wine scene. Check it out, you WILL be delighted !!

Come by here once a year on way to San Luis Obispo. The Zoo is always changing and improving. They have a new Red Panda exhibit and the Prehensile Porcupines have a new out of cage habitat.

We went to the Sunken Gardens area, which is by the historic City Hall of Atascadero We returned at night as the historic city hall is beautiful to see at night. We spoke to some others who were also there to photograph the building.
