Originally built in 1706 and rebuilt in 1932 the shrine honors Admiral Yi and several generations of his family. This is a great outdoor area that offers over 5km of trails along with beautiful views and a gorgeous pond. It truly is beautiful all year round; I visited in winter. The crisp air, small crowds, and quietness made this place even more special. If you are pressed on time, skip the museum and head straight to the shrine and walk around the pond on your way back to the parking lot. (Approximately 30 min). I recommend spending 1-1.5 hours to see everything. The museum shares history from 1700s about naval warfare and the infamous turtle ships. Videos begin at the top of each hour. The parking lot is huge, and gives you an idea about how crowded this place gets in the spring/summer.

We loved our experience, able to entertain our teenagers with chestnut roasting, rice cultivating and just exploring around the village with kind and nice people teaching us about the Korean culture in different locations. Play place made of rice and local materials and a nice outdoor cafe with traditional food for a reasonable price.

We have 5 kids (ages 2-14). We parked at a lower level, had our temperatures checked then started on a trail about half way up. That trail was beautiful. We made it about 1 mile in then turned around. We drove on up to the top and realized we should have done that to start with. Entrance fee by car was 9500 for 2 adults, 5 children and the facilities were lovely and peaceful. Easy to maintain distance to comply with Covid rules.
