I made a small order on behalf of my partner who wanted to gift some chocolates for Christmas to my mother. The attention to detail in noticing the address and making sure that the gift was sent correctly to the right person was checked. I received an email minutes after the order was placed and 5 days before Christmas by Hayley Gardner-Clark Director/Owner of Castle Chocolates of Arundel Ltd. Noticing that they could deliver it by hand they made an exception and hand-delivered with an extra treat to compensate for the delivery costs. To summarize the review on the chocolate, my mother was over the moon like a greedy child in a chocolate store. (She loved them)

Outside and inside this is a wonderful Cathedral Church, honouring St. Mary the Virgin and St. Philip Howard. It is full of the most amazing sculptures and memorials. The cathedral is not old (1873) so all of the architecture is crisp and clean, but it follows traditional designs and looks so.much like the cathedrals of Notre Dame or Mont Saint Michel on the outside. The special features to look out for are: The stations of the cross The tomb of Saint Philip the Martyr The stunning altars Fabulous stained glass windows, especially the circular west window Two 12th Century large carvings of 'The Raising of Lazarus' The Tapestry and altar drapes 16th Century paintings of the Kings of England and Wales

Many years ago a boyfriend and i were on a short break, we head to Arundel as i had always wanted to visit the Castle. After taking a drive around, we came across this little pub and my boyfriend asked if they did B&B, which they agreed to do. I have no idea if they actually offered this service as part of the pubs normal business, but we stayed for one night and the landlady was welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. Breakfast was large and substantial and the whole atmosphere back then was, warm and welcoming. I have never forgotten even though it was nearly 40 years ago, a very different time, but it has always stayed with me and to this day i can still remember the warmth and hospitality. i had to hit may 2019 for my visit as the time band only goes that far back.

Opposite Arundel Cathedral is the Parish and Priory Church of St Nicholas, which also pops up above the views from the Castle gardens. The church dates from 1380 and has a beautiful 15th century pulpit and (currently closed because of the pandemic) the Fitzalan Chapel which is the private chapel of the Dukes of Norfolk, the premier Roman Catholic family in England. Thus, unusually, one building houses spaces for Anglican and for Roman Catholic worship. A relatively simple church in terms of its architecture, inspirational and worth exploring. You are best to research it in advance because leaflets and visitor information has been removed due to pandemic precautions, but well done for being open.

Visited this shop looking for military buttons for a forthcoming project. Owner was so helpful and provided a whole tin for me to sort through. Found the specific style I was looking for for-lion and crown. At only 25p a button this was ideal and found 8 identical. Owner so knowledgeable and a good conversation was had while sorting buttons and checking other items. Some great paintings in there too. Check out Boris Johnson! Cleaned up and beautiful and shiny now.
