The region is beautiful to visit and the Geopark Center in Arouca, very modern and informative, with enthusiastic and helpful staff. Good place to get started, since they explain the "birth-giving" stones and hand out maps of the area and of the Paiva Walkways. Definitely check it out!

This monastery is worth a visit. It’s easier to visit the church (during the opening time, the entrance is free. For visiting the monastery – cloister, kitchen, chapter house, cells, museum, etc. there are only guided visits (every 40/45 minutes) – be sure that you go inside because there are very interesting things to see. When you finish the visit go to one of the cafes and taste the monastic pastry. Enjoy!
