The state of Arizona is one that features a fantastic diversity of landscapes and areas of geological interest. North Arizona is famous for the Grand Canyon, a colorful chasm with steep rocky walls more than a mile deep and stretching some 277 miles alongside the Colorado River. Other notable destinations in North Arizona include Flagstaff set alongside the San Francisco Peaks which has the largest ponderosa pine forest, Museum of Northern Arizona, and is close to a number of national parks and monuments. On the south side of Arizona lies the city of Phoenix, the largest in Arizona. Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower

Reviewed By RICART75 - Peru, United States

We spent about an hour here, as part of a 4 hour Park tour originating at the Grand Canyon Village. The views are wonderful, and Mary Colter's architecture is absorbing, providing a true step back in time. Whether one climbs the stairs within, or sits at one of the ground level window seats, (or walks the outside perimeter) the scenery is magnificent. This facility also overlooks the site of a historic plane crash, which was the catalyst for our current FAA. The Watchtower is the focal point of a complex including a gift shop, restaurant and restrooms. The staff throughout were friendly and informative. Less crowded than some other areas along the rim, this was one of the highlights of our 2 days at the south rim.

Little Colorado River Overlook

This lookout is inside the Navajo Indian reservation and a donation is suggested to enter. Did not have any problems with the gentleman collecting the donations at the entrance. There are clean bathrooms and this alone is worth making a donation. It is a short walk to the last viewpoint and there are some small steps. The views are worth it. Before you get to the lookout there are plaques with lots of interesting information. Near the parking area you can also see some nice Echinocactus polycephalus clumps as sell as other native plants. Also here in the parking area are many stalls where Navajo artists or their relatives sell jewelry they make. As a big fan of native America jewelry I have purchased this kind of jewelry in many states and places. I can say that it is in the reservations where you can buy directly from the artists that I have found some if the best jewelry. Good workmanship and designs at the best prices. It used to be that you needed cash but now they take credit cards. This place is worth checking out and it is never as crowded as the National Park.

Mingus Mountain Vista & Picnic Observation Point

We've travel to this incredibly amazing 7,000'+ vista many times. Often packing a light picnic lunch to each at a nearby picnic table and other times just to cherish the superb view of the Cottonwood city vallen and Sedona's majestic mountains in the distance. It's always at least 15 degrees cooler than in lower Cottonwood and the cooler breeze through the Ponderosa Pines always soothes.

Myself and my partner, have just returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon West Rim with skywalk/lunch. The experience was breathtaking , the view of the West Rim was amazing, especially from Eagle Point and Guano Point and we had some amazing photos taken of us while over looking the sky walk. Our photographer Carly was lovely and good at her job, the photos will be treasured forever. We purchased the tickets through trip advisor before we went to Las Vegas, this was the reason for our holiday as we have been to Las Vegas many times before but never the Grand Canyon. Our tour operator was Grey Line, we were collected from our hotel and dropped back off at the end of our tour(a full day). Our driver was Thomas L ,he was amazing very knowledgable, funny, friendly and made our bus journey the best ever. We stopped off at Hoover Dam on our way to the Grand Canyon which was fantastic. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to visit one of the seven wonders of the world. A fantastic experience, staff at the Grand Canyon/ Thomas L from Grey Line, carry on the good work. Amazing people looking after an Amazing landmark????
