A hidden gem we discovered on route to Caminito del Rey. Superb location, these natural lakes are a blissful recreation facility on hot summer days, with many kayaks and pedalos available for hire. there are numerous wooden tables and benches under the shade for picnics. Kids will love it, Charges are reasonable so won't break the bank for large families.

Caminito del Rey is an itinerary that will let you walk across the heart of Desfiladero de los Gaitanes (Gaitanes Ravine) throgugh the gateways attached to a rock one hundred meters above the ground, discovering remote landscapes and experiencing vertiginous feelings that only experienced climbers could feel until now.
This is a must do when you are visiting the Costa del Sol. The Caminito del Rey is a 45 min by car journey from Malaga. It’s near the town of Ardales. We booked a guided tour few weeks before we visited. On arrival ( make sure you are in the right entrance), we parked our car on the side of the road, however, if this is not available you can pay €2 to park your car near the entrance. The main entrance is 1.5 km from the main road. There are toilet facilities right at the entrance gate. The Caminito del Rey is a 5 km path built on the side of great and magnificent canyons 100 meters above the Rio Gualdalhorce, we went on a guided tour and the guide was very informative. The path itself was safe, the views of the surrounding canyons, the river below and mountain ranges beyond were jaw dropping and amazing. Looking down was a tad scary but that’s how you can appreciate the scale of the canyons and the path. Tip: Do try to book an early slot, it opens at 09:30 am, our tour was 10 am and there were not a lot of people that time, when we finished our tour and we went back to the main entrance, it was so busy and heaving with tourists.

Having already done the Camenito Del Rey, we decided to visit the reservoirs around the El Chorro area. Wow! You really must visit this area if you get the chance. It’s absolutely stunning.
