We took the trail from Killarney Station to Winter Garden Station (a round trip of about 10 miles) and were suitably impressed. We hired bikes at Killarney Station which was easy to do and reasonably priced, something I would definitely recommend doing if you're visiting the area and don't have your own bikes with you.
The Orange County Parks & Recreation division (the department responsible for the maintenance and development of the trail) have clearly thought things through, with a multi-purpose trail suitable for walkers, cyclists, joggers and skaters taking visitors through wooded, green-space and residential areas. There are mile markers along the way, so you know how far you've gone (maps are also available at most of the stations) and information boards along the trail provide useful information about the flora and fauna you might see along the way.
Most of the trail is flat which is preferable given the high temperatures this region is known for. There are large sections of the trail which are shaded by overhead tree canopy, but I would recommend a visit earlier in the morning before it gets too hot if you don't like the idea of cycling/walking in the heat! It can also get pretty busy, especially at the weekends, so I would recommend going during the week if you're looking to avoid heavy traffic.
Most of the stations along the trail have amenities (restrooms, vending machines, etc) although we found some of them were closed on the day we went (Sunday). There's lots to see along the way, including some lovely houses, wildlife and quirky commercial buildings featuring some very interesting decorations!
All in all this is a great way to see Florida in a different and unique way and makes a welcome change from the busy theme parks and outlet malls. Well worth a visit if you're looking to take a break from the usual attractions and want something different to do.

Wekiva Island is an environmentally friendly destination located in Longwood, Florida along the beautiful Wekiva River offering canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals, a boat launch, a bar serving beer and wine, a food truck, and river cabana rentals for your next party or event. Visit Wekiva Island day or night and experience an island oasis just outside of Orlando.
We landed in Florida during unusually cold January weather (courtesy of "the Bomb Cyclone"/Polar Vortex) so when we'd read about a "Friday Night Bonfire" at Wekiva Island we incorporated it into an afternoon visit to nearby Wekiwa Springs State Park. Wekiva Island is fascinating and...MoreThank you for coming and visiting us! Wekiva is known for showcasing the "real" Florida. Our locals enjoy getting an escape from the hustle of central Florida. This is one of the best places in Central Florida to play Pokémon go! My son, myself, and a whole lot of friends come here 3 - 4 times a week to hit the stops.... The park is very safe and it is a great place to relax and spend time with the family...

The people working at the center are knowledgeable and friendly. Great morning adventure, easy access, easy parking and family friendly prices. Bathrooms too.

The Morse Museum is home to the world's most comprehensive collection of works by American artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933). Galleries feature works such as jewelry, pottery, paintings, art glass, leaded-glass lamps and windows; his chapel interior from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago; and art and architectural objects from his Long Island country estate, Laurelton Hall. Exhibitions also include American art pottery, late 19th- and early 20th-century American painting, graphics, decorative art.
This museum was an unexpected gem! We traveled to Winter Park to see something at Rollins and then had time and looked into this museum. It is a museum of American decorative arts and so there is pottery and other paintings as well (a Singer Sargent, for example) But it is most impressive for its Tiffany collection! From the World’s Fair CHAPEL INTERIOR to the many items, including porticos and jewelry and drawings.
If you have a moment, watch the short video, at the entrance, about the Morses and how this museum came to be. It’s very informative and it makes you appreciate the museum, and its importance, even more.
Free parking and a very reasonable entry price.

Rough gravel. Mountain Bikes only. It is basically a maintenance road for a swamp. A monument to the utter stupidity of the Water Management District. The largest environmental disaster in Florida. No one was punished for Killing lake Apopka. Today it is a Dead Lake.
Go to GatorLand instead.

We had been for a half day shooping tour and recommend to stay longer. It was not crowded at all and the selection of shops is fantastic. I highly recommend this mall instead of going to the very crowded outlets near the Disney resorts!

This 7,000-acre area containing diverse plants and wildlife is also popular for swimming, canoeing, hiking and camping.
Take a break from the theme parks and Orlando, and paddle your own canoe for a small price. Beautiful park, nice swimming area, and awesome canoe run. Clear water, alligators swimming along side the canoe, baby alligators, turtles, fish, beautiful vegetation, including iris blooming in March. Stop your canoe and listen to the birds, including owls! Take a long or a short paddle. A current helps you along on the way out, and a little bit more of a workout on the way back. Nice trails as well, including a well maintained boardwalk.
