Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

This region is a popular source of outdoor recreation for boating, fishing, hiking and windsurfing, plus being one of the largest summer homes of the American Bald Eagle.

My wife and I have visited 29 State Parks and always find the staff very nice and helpful. I must say that at this one I met two employees that clearly didn't enjoy their jobs. The lady in the visitors center may have been having a bad day, but it shouldn't be taken out out visitors to the park.

As for the park itself the lake is huge and there is a lot to do. We enjoyed the views of the lake.

I've done 2 escape rooms here: the Geek Room and the NC Photo Hunt. Both were a lot of fun. If you have not done an escape room before, I would suggest the Photo Hunt room. The puzzles were interesting but not as hard as the Geek Room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I am definitely looking forward to trying out the other rooms they have in the near future.

American Tobacco Trail

We came here and rode our bikes for just a few miles. We cant wait to come back and ride again. This is a historical place which was once a large tobacco growing area. There was a train which the tobacco companies had put in snd used to transport their product. The train no longer runs but the old track area is great for hiking , jogging, bike riding, etc.

Carolina Brewing Company

A very small place off the beaten track but with great beers. YOU have to be prepared to make the atmosphere, I personally would not venture here alone) but a good group makes all the difference. One let down is there are no food trucks that visit (mainly because the place is not busy enough) but Holly Springs retail park is close so you can eat first (plenty of places) and take the stroll to Company.

Well worth a drop in if your passing by or a cyclist, some great routes very near by.

Koka Booth Ampitheatre

Koka Booth is where Cary Diwali is celebrated every year. The sprawling facility caters to the needs of the large number of people who attend Cary Diwali everyone. The acoustics of the place, for an open air amphitheater, is amazing. Sufficient parking, beautiful walk through the "woods" from parking to the theater, the pond, the walking trail, everything comes together to provide a great experience.

Open air movie screenings with family cuddled up on the lawn with a blanket and food, is an experience that cannot be missed.

Crowder District Park

Reviewed By Diane R - Cary, North Carolina

This is a hidden gem off the Ten-Ten Road near the intersection of Holly Springs Road and the Ten Ten intersection. I've been coming here for years, and just visited again last week. This is a great place to walk your well-behaved dog on a leash on a nice walking trail that is about .8 miles around the park. There is a nice pond with a boardwalk across it, and it is a great spot for viewing wildlife: turtles, fish, geese, ducks, etc. Several play areas, and I noticed the main play area has recently had all new play equipment installed, and it looked very nice. There are several large shade shelter picnic areas for groups. The main restroom is very nice and near the main play area. There is a smaller restroom in the back near the other shelters. Don't forget to check out the "Little Lending Library" outside the office. Well kept park and very enjoyable. Good place to go birding also.
