On a road that is 1.1 km long and 36 m wide, 165 pine trees and 156 cherry trees make up four rows of trees, with cherry blossoms in spring and illuminations in winter. On August 10, 1986, it was selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Roads (selected by the Ministry of Construction). Also, on March 2, 2007, it was selected as one of the "Best 100 Beautiful Japanese Historical Climates."

This historic site was accidentally discovered during construction of a baseball stadium. Excavations have revealed artifacts and structures dating back 5500 years to the Jomon period.
