Tanaka Isson Museum

Reviewed By pyonchan8

Tanaka Isson only posthumously became famous and acknowledged unfortunately. He is sometimes compared to Paul Gauguin in that he was attracted in a Southern Island and stayed there in the last time of his life. He is in other times compared to Henri Rousseau in that his brush strokes resemble those of Rousseau’s especially in one of his greatest works, “Kuwazuimo to Sotetsu.” I highly recommend you visit this museum.

Amami Park

Reviewed By criancadodeus - Washington, United States

Small, but interesting information place which features detailed information concerning this unique island. Plus you will find an art museum featuring the art of Tanaka Isson who was best known for his flower-and-bird paintings of the island. Located near the airport, it offers a observation tower that provides great views. Here you will also find a nice cafe and a gift shop filled with local products.
