This is a single-nave baroque church dating back to the late 16th century. It has served both as Roman Catholic and as Eastern Orthodox Church in different eras, since the area was largely populated by Greeks during the early centuries of Christianity. It is located on the main road that crosses the historic pedestrian center of Altamura, just a couple of blocks from the cathedral. The narrow main gate is crowned by a carved stone arch, and above that, a beautiful rosette. Several lateral chapels abut to the nave. The art reflects the life and activities of Saint Nicola. The painted ceiling is particularly accomplished.
