This park, located 500 feet up on a bluff, offers scenic views.
If you're passing through Alma, take the time to drive to the top of the bluff. You'll be rewarded for an incredible view of the Mississippi River, the town of Alma, barges, the lock and dam, and the view across the valley into Minnesota and the bluffs on the opposite side. This city park has a bathroom and picnic tables, benches, and swings. It's well worth a visit any time of the day.

We stopped to look at the museum and toy memorabilia. Each display is wonderful to view and fondly remember personally having some of the same toys. Even without children or grandchildren it is a fun place. If you're looking for educational, nostalgic, or currently popular toys, this is the store for you. They also have a snack bar, wonderful, hand carved carousel and clean restrooms.

The premier kayaking and outdoor education guiding service on the Upper Mississippi River. We are your connection to the wild waters and natural beauty of the Mississippi River's tributaries and backwater channels. Offering tours on the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin in the Wabasha area.
Highly recommend this tour! Beautiful scenery, calm waters, and Avery is a very knowledgeable, friendly guide. Avery made us feel comfortable and explained all the turns and procedures for crossing the channel. We ended the tour with a close up of a huge bald eagle,
5 stars for Broken Paddle!

The National Eagle Center is a landmark interpretive center on the banks of the Mississippi River in Wabasha, MN. Visitors can meet rescued bald and golden eagles up close and learn more about them in interactive exhibits and engaging daily programs. Live eagle progams offered at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
A beautiful facility and very educational. The eagle show in the classroom was fascinating and well done by the staff member.

Wine tasting room with an event center for small gatherings. We are considered an Estate Winery, meaning we grow our own grapes and make our wines from them. We do not buy grapes or wine from any other regions. Danzinger Vineyards won Winery of the Year from the Wisconsin Grape Growers Association in 2013.
A friend and I stopped in at Danzinger Vineyards on a gloomy morning but a little wine tasting certainly brightened our day!
We enjoyed trying 5 wines at no cost- the lady serving us was knowledgeable about each wine. The wines were flavorful-- and a nice variety offered.
We would have had a glass on the patio but was a little early in the day. Instead the Winemaker gave us an abbreviated tour which we really enjoyed! He sure knows what he's doing and seemed to enjoy sharing the process with us-- I've been to Danzinger Vineyard before and always enjoy (and purchase) some wine!

The museum is small, but the exhibits are carefully selected and arranged chronologically with excellent story boards to make the history of arms and armor come alive. I especially liked the early period showing the various Viking routes of plunder and settlement. It is a museum about weapons and how they developed and were used in various periods of history.

We were lucky enough to get to view the lock and dam in action as a houseboat was traveling downstream. We range in ages from 10 - 67 and we all enjoyed watching and learning!

This is a mini nature center, gift store, and tourist info all rolled into one. There is always a friendly local volunteer behind the desk. He or she will periodically focus telescopes on Bald Eagles and other birds perched in trees along the river. There's always something interesting to see. Kids and adults will be able to see the eagles and learn a bit about them.
There is a bright and clean bathroom, and the place is air conditioned. (Maybe this sounds funny to write in a review, but it matters when you've been hiking or walking around town on a hot summer day.)
There is a small sampling of local arts and some crafts available for purchase. I've always been shocked at how low the prices are. This is a place to get a locally made souvenir on a budget or a child's weekly allowance.
My family and I have been coming to Alma every summer and fall for the past several years, and we always stop here.

We love fishing and decided to spend our Anniversary weekend on the Great Alma Fishing Float! We spent nearly the entire 12 hours out there and caught some great fish. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing day and we look really forward to coming back! The guys who own the float will fillet your fish for a very small fee. And definitely rent the rod holder.
Tip: We brought way too much stuff. If you're bringing anything besides your poles and a small tacklebox, bring just a cooler of drinks. Keep what you bring on limited because honestly, you don't need it. Definitely bring hand sanitizer, though. You can rinse off your hands in the Mississippi, but yea lol

The Mississippi River south of Lake Pepin has surprisingly good water quality with numerous islands and back channels with lots of sandy beaches. We've been going to this area for a few years now and always have found our own private beach to spend a few days. Fishing can be excellent depending on the time of year and water levels. This year the water was low which limited access to some of the more remote backwater areas. Fishing was best for sunfish and crappies.
