Perched at the top of Norway’s Western Fjord country, picture-perfect Alesund is spread over several islands stretching into the Atlantic, with the spectacular Sunnmøre Mountains as a backdrop. If its natural beauty doesn’t grab you, its architecture surely will: After an early 20th-century fire destroyed much of the town, Alesund was rebuilt in absolute Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) glory. Learn the history at Aalesunds Museum, or visit one of the world’s largest aquariums, the Atlanterhavsparken.

Took this tour while on cruise. Roads had turned snowy and the Troll road was closed off. We went as far as we could then our guide took us a different way and we saw a lot of Viking things not on the tour. She did her best to make up for weather disappointment t. Enjoyable day and tour.

I really can't say I've got to grips with Norway after my recent Covid secure trip there up the ffjirds on a cruise ship with other sufferers of my particular condition. One small issue is it's always said that all Norwegians speak English but I definitely met several who hadn't a clue what I was talking about when ordering pork chops on one of our excursions inland to Innlanden so that aspect was disappointing. Also I learned that a Smurfasbord is a kind of buffet similar to the English buffet but with fewer items from the yellow food groups such as our much loved crisps and cheese. Mr Gudmunjohansennn the ships croupier talked me through it in impeccable Norwegian so I had to deduce what he was saying from his admirable skill at pointing at things and either smiling or frowning. Was glad to get home to Sharon and normality.

Travel like the locals used to do and join us for this brand-new cruise connecting the coastal town of Ålesund and the beautiful Unesco Geirangerfjord. We struck it lucky as Covid had shut down may travel options, but these guys were operating and offered exactly what we wanted. We had heard soo much about the Geirangerfjord but did not have alot of time as we travelled down the west coast of norway. Thankfully we got wind of this relatively new tour going from Alesund into the deep fjord 100km all by new luxury catamaran. We took it in and back out the same day but you can take it one way and spend time in Geiranger town itself. A real bonus was the excellent audio guide. It works on GPS, and as you pass by an area, this triggers the local stories and history of the people and places along the way. Incredible to think people lived on these remote places that you can still only get to by boat. We enjoyed getting very close to the long waterfalls as we closed in on the destination of Geiranger town. We had plenty of time to stretch the legs and explore the small town and grab an excellent lunch right by the harbour. After the kids and shopped for some souvenirs and of course visited the Chocolate factory, we jumped back on board to head back to Alesund to continue our journey down the coast. A great escape with so much to see. They say it shows you 3 fjords in 3 hours. Time seemed to go by pretty fast as the scenery is always changing. Very comfortable boat with a small kiosk shop for snacks and friendly staff. Highly recommended excursion.

I went on this trip end of July and the guide (Trond, who is also the owner) did a great job making me feel comfortable and informed during the entire trip. I was the only one that booked at this day, and he maintaned that LocalTrips never cancel, so we went none the less. Right from the get go It was evident to me that I could ask any questions and if I wanted to focus on something specific on the tour, he would be more than happy to accommodate. The only time we had to be hard on was so that we made it to the boat taking us across waters (obviously). Otherwise I could take my own when walking the Waterfall Road or through the main road of Geiranger. The highlight for me was the first the Geiranger Fjord as it is simply spectacular with all the waterfalls and steep mountains around. Trond was nice enough to take some photos of me and he always knew some great spots to get some really nice pictures! Can't recommend it enough and If you go on this trip then make sure you get off your phone, look up and breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the scenery as the atmosphere at several of the locations were really nice. Added some photos even though they don't do the nature justice and even got one with Trond (no we did not plan on matching our jackets haha!)

The little island of Runde has got 150 regular inhabitants, but from February to August every year, more than 500.000 birds come to Runde for the nesting season. Around 80 species have been proved nesting here, and more than 230 species have been observed in total. The nature areas on Runde are vulnerable, important, and interesting for research. Runde has also been called "Treasure Island" because of the finds of gold coins from the wrecked Dutch ship "Akerendam" from 1725. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or from your cruise ship. You will have the drive to take a ferry towards Runde. You will enjoy bird watching on a mountain trip, after that, you will have lunch. Before going back your guide will take you to the viewpoint to Ocean gate in coastline village.
