This spot offers amazing views of some beautiful mountain scenery in Banff National Park. We had not planned to visit but just happened to be passing by when exploring the area for a x-country ski outing. How thrilling to be there just at the right time when a train passed by. A beautiful sunny blue sky day made for a perfect visit! It is so photogenic...and really represents the beauty of the great Canadian Rockies!

Easy well maintain walkway. We do this several times each visit. Views are spectacular and there are plenty of benches along the trail for rest stops.

This town site is extremely walkable with a good selection of shops, restaurants and fast food. If you have the time, you can rent bikes to get around or simply pick up a coffee and browse.

Took this 1.3 Km (to the lake) hike. You start off from a paved parking lot (with limited parking space and outhouse facilities) and start to climb right away up a fairly steep incline (130 m gain in elevation). The path is an old road, stable to walk on -- wet in place but well packed with some loose stone. The scenery at the lake is phenomenal --- blue/green water with panoramic mountain scenery. You are left in awe at the spectacular views. An back country camping area (Over camping permit/registration is required) is located at the trail approach to the lake. A bear proof food storage is provided. I can begin to describe this beautiful lake. We did take the trail around the lake and continued a little further along the trail (which continues onto other trails and back country camping area). PLEASE NOTE: This is bear country so be prepared with bear spray. Wear good footwear and dress appropriately. The morning was a little cool (in the morning) hiking up and we saw patches of snow in the trees. As we changed our footwear by the car, the group behind us said that a bear did cross their path on their descent.
The butterfly symbol of the City of Gwacheon was used for the central flowerbeds, the flag poles and the sitting area that are located on the east side of Nose Creek Park. In 2007, six handcrafted totem poles were donated to the City of Airdrie by Gwacheon, Korea to commemorate 10 years of sharing a sister city relationship.
