Our permanent home is now under construction, but you can still watch our carvers and painters at work in our temporary studio, and enjoy browsing our gift shop. We should be in our new home in June, 2017. Founded in 2004, the Historic Carousel and Museum is creating a world class carousel complex in downtown Albany that will draw visitors from around the world and contribute to the economic revitalization of historic downtown Albany.
Albany is so lucky to have a beautiful Carousel and Museum in the heart of downtown. If you visit, be sure to tour the carving and painting rooms to see how the animals are made. They are works of art done with such pride by local volunteers. It's a stunning place

Multiple trails well maintained for walking. Dogs welcome on leash. Wildlife viewable. Water features present. Would be nicer if the ponds were not overgrown with cat tails and clover?

An historic district in downtown Albany that offers a large number of turreted Queen Anne buildings.
I've driven buy Albany so many times on I-5, never realizing the beauty of this historic district. I recommend a walking tour, because there are many homes in this area and each one deserves notice. There are also some beautiful old churches, one that looks like a castle.

We recently took our two grand daughters to the park during their weekend visit. We enjoyed a fun adventure on the paddle boats. The staff working were great and we were impressed on the number of people enjoying the park that afternoon.

The Downtown Historic District is one of four Historic Districts in Albany, Oregon. The District includes restored building dating back to the 1860s. The Buildings are fill with unique businesses including restaurants, retail shops, and an historic theater. Wide clean sidewalks make getting around easy and enjoyable.
Downtown Historic district of Albany offers a diverse selection of restaurants and shops. If you enjoy antiques, art or just a casual drink at a sidewalk cafe, this is the place to stop. The beautiful flower baskets, store fronts and benches make this a place to enjoy and relax. After a stroll, stop by the Vault for a casual drink at an outside table. The cool Oregon air on a hot summer day is refreshing. Look for the hand carved Carousel animals in the storefront windows. A museum is being built, hopefully open in summer of 2017.

Last week, following unusual hectic events, I found myself driving over to Takena Landing Park. I sat at the picnic table with a book, sitting in the sunshine, while frequently glancing up and quietly watching the river flow. It was a wonderful time to spend an hour of quiet reflection.
There is good parking spaces available in the lot, and at the time there were only three other cars parked there. I am assuming people were enjoying the trail that goes alongside the river.
This is a special place, that I find I will take advantage again. So very lucky that Albany has this location to us here in Linn and Benton counties.
Enjoy~

Very well maintained antique mall. They are always planning events, like the upcoming Christmas Open House. My kids love coming here. There is a wide selection of collectibles (comics, figurines, etc) upstairs that my kids love to look at. They have clothes from every decade. Handmade furniture & found furniture. Love this place!

A quaint whitewashed covered bridge that was built in 1936.
There are 6 Covered Bridges in a short loop between Albany, Stayton and the Scio Area. The bridges are: Stayton-Jordan, Hannah, Gilkey, Larwood, Hoffman and Shimanek. We rode our motorcycle on the loop of bridges and can easily be done in 3 hours. I highly recommend a visit to all the bridges!
