Had an awesome trip doing the full day Flint tour with Omar! He’s a great guide and would thoroughly recommend. We rented 2 quads between 3 which was great, but the pair did have a small tumble so maybe get one bike each. Would also advise you to wear a big jacket and contacts rather than glasses if requires as my glasses didn’t fit under the mask, and you will need it because it’s pretty dusty. That said, it was the highlight of the trip and wouldn’t miss it if you are in town!

My experience with Toubkal Guide strongly demonstrates that it is the premier guide service for Toubkal trekking. Due to Covid, I had to reschedule my trip several times. Throughout this process Jamal patiently and kindly responded to numerous e-mails and changes in plans. My trip with Toubkal Guide went without a hitch. Jamal himself met me at the train station in Marrakech, and transported me to Imlil Lodge. The lodge met all expectations. Beautifully decorated in the Berber style, it was a treat just to experience the lodge. Food was excellent and plentiful. My guide on the trek was Ibrahim. I could not have asked for a better guide. Ibrahim did everything in his power to make my trip a safe and successful experience. If you are going to trek with Toubkal Guide soon, ask for Ibrahim. Jamal, too, assisted so kindly in all aspects of my stay. He is an outgoing person, with a warm personality. Jamal and his staff are Berber. What better way to truly experience this fascinating culture than through Berber people themselves. Having been vaccinated, and armed with a negative PCR test for Covid, I had no problems whatsoever, entering Morocco. Jamal can also refer you to an approved testing site within a short walk of the Medina for your return test. The test cost approximately $60 US, and was ready the same day it was administered. Now is a wonderful time for a visit. The trail is not crowded, the weather is warming, and the Moroccan people are so welcoming. What a memory!

Ait ben Haddou is more than just a film set, though; it is a ksar, a fortified village whose history goes back almost a thousand years, although the maze of narrow and crenulated towers you see these days are mainly from the 17th century. As a strategic stop for caravans of camels, often numbering hundreds, on the trans-Saharan trade route from the Sudan to Marrakech carrying gold, silver and slaves and returning with salt, it would have been a thriving town, home to thousands. As well a private homes – everything from small palaces to modest one-room dwellings – there were communal areas including a public square, a mosque, a caravanserai to house those travelling with the caravans, grain threshing areas outside the ramparts, a fortified granary ( agadir) at the top of the village, the last redoubt in time of invasion, and two cemeteries, Muslim and Jewish.. With me you will see and feel more.....:)

Ouarzazate is one of the most popular Moroccan sites for filmmakers from around the world. One of the cinematographic assets of this place is the quality of the light, its size increases with the realization of the Ait-Ben-Haddou, small village close to Ouarzazate as world heritage. Ait Ben Haddou is a Kasbah (fortified city) located 30 kilometers from Ouarzazate. Like Atlas studios, the Kasbah has been filmed by Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, The Mummy and The Diamond Nile. There are lots of these trips advertised and it took ages to come to the decision to book through Mission Travel Morrocco. I don't think it actually matters who you book through they all seem to simply fill up the buses. Pick up at hotel was offered which was good. We were taken to a central pick up point where there appeared to be confusion regarding who was going and in which bus. The fellow passengers made the trip. That is the only reason I gave it 3 stars. Unfortunately the driver Muhammed who spoke no English, spent a large amount of his time on his mobile both travelling their and back. This was a bit concerning especially driving through the Atlas mountains. In the end I told him to put it away. Visits to Ben Haddou and Gorges du Todgha were very interesting. However as other reviews mentions lunch stops were arranged at particular restaurants with set price menus at tourist prices. Lunch for our family of 3 would have cost over 34 euros without drinks. I refused to pay this so walked down the road and found a chinese which served sandwiches etc. On the way back the whole group refused to ear at the allocated restaurant finding a much cheaper one down the road. The driver was not pleased as he probably lost his commission. My tip would be take your own food. The scenery is spectacular and the desert dune trek on camels is super. The camp was basic which was OK. My major complaint here though was despite advertising that drinks can be purchased there was nothing... Not even water. We had to continously ask for water and the camp staff refused several times stating that their bosses did not allow them to provide water. This was ridiculous having travelled by then over 17hrs on a bus and told to bring the bare minimum to not have water. Eventually they went to another camp and got water and charged us 2 euros. The food was quite good and the entertainment OK. It was the desert itself which made the trip and the fellow passengers. Despite booking the longer tour it was still very rushed. Up at 5. 30am to see the sunrise which was actually behind us. The journey back took almost 19hrs due to the driver getting stopped by police and fined. He got stopped a second time and the break pads fell off the bus. We then had to hang around waiting for it to be fixed. Muhammad wanting obviously to make up time drove like a formula one driver through the twisting mountains causing several people to feel sick. I had to firmly ask him to stop as one of the passengers was quite ill through his driving and the attitude. We really enjoyed the desert experience however if considering this research it first. 2 nights was rushed so I can only imagine how hectic one night would be.
