Came across Agios Nikolaos by accident, what a little stunner of a town, a few nice shopping streets, a lake where they were doing cliff diving and great little cafes, where the food is wonderful.

We have been coming to Crete for the past 15 years and we traveled all around the island until...we found Agios Nikolaos and Ammoudi Beach. We fell in love with the place. Apart from the amazing scenery, we were attracted by the water sports activities. Amoudi Water Sports is run by the nicest family and it is because of them that we keep coming back. They made our holidays a wonderful experience making us feel like we are part of the family. Every year we have a lot of fun riding the sofa or using the jetski, kayak or SUP. All these are and were done with complete compliance with the rules and regulations. Nikos and Manos are always alert and keeping an eye on what is happening on the beach and we always felt safe there, especially this year!

Had a lovely day here, toilet cafe and water sports available, there's a river that flows into ocean on right hand end and the water is like ice????,however come away from that and the water is warm, beach is clean and not over crowded,we went by car so not sure of any buses, it really is beautiful, would love to go back and would highly recommend ❤????????????

It might not be far from Ágios but this beach has clean water and sand. Has free sun beds and parasols if you make use of cafe or hotel beach service. Food and drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. Great place for a lazy day..

The beach is clean and safe for all. The water is clear and its ideal for snorkelling. You can hire sunbeds with umbrellas for just a few euros. It is close to many bars, tavernas and shops.

We found Voulisma Beach on Tripadvisor and the reviews were great. We took a writers advice and got there early, 9.15am, after travelling from our hotel resort, Stella Island. We were the first there and got two beds with a parasol for €15 that included a safe attached to the parasol - why have I never seen this before. Beautiful white sand, crystal clear water and a little cave with rock pools meant we spent most of the time in the water snorkelling or just mucking about. They offer food and drink service on the beach so there is no need to move. Even now, and at this time of the year, come 12 ish it was very busy but there was still a great atmosphere. We both said it probably is the closest to somewhere like the Maldives you could get to in 4 hours from London. Enjoy!
