Abilene boasts a proud military history, having been home once to a U.S. Army base and later a U.S. Air Force base, which remains its primary employer. The city boasts numerous green spaces as well as an impressive zoo representing hundreds of species of animals. Look around and there is always something to do, with two annual rodeos, several outdoor festivals and conferences throughout the year.

This is a relatively new brewpub, Sockdolager's, and by itself it makes the trip to Abilene a success. Excellent beer, food, service, fun (we went on trivia night), and the staff is top notch. Friendly, courteous, and interested in what you like and what you think of the pub's services and features.

I'm Trevor Allen and my desire with this tour is to help people get to know Abilene in a unique way through creativity, poetry and live theater. I love our local businesses and wish to help promote them through the avenue of a walking tour, while showcasing some of the history and murals downtown.
