The lodge is the only five star establishment within the Nyungwe National Park area. It lies in a tea plantation on the edge of the Nyungwe closed canopy rain forest and comprises of 20 luxurious rooms and two Presidential Suites – with 2bedrooms – luxurious suites, one with a Jacuzzi, each equipped with private decks with views overlooking the vast forest terrain. Lodge facilities include an outdoor heated swimming pool, a boma for outdoor dining and sundowners, a restaurant with private terrace, a tea lounge and bar, a relaxation retreat with two treatment rooms, plus a fitness centre with treadmill, cycle and weights. The lodge also offers the latest in Wi-Fi technology with exclusive conferences facilities accommodating up to 18 delegates. Furthermore, the main lodge is wheelchair friendly with relevant facilities.
This is a no star review. I was on a work trip with friends. We were staying nearby and looking for a nice place for food and drink. We found this on the map and decided to check it out. Turns out you have to book from Kigali, you can't just go there. Which is fine, if that's how they want to do things. But what was absolutely unacceptable was the extreme unpleasantness we received from the guard at the gate. We stopped the car and it was all he could do to walk over to us. The first word out of his mouth was simply, 'No.' No what, we wondered. He walked to the passenger side where our Rwandan colleague was sitting and began with 'Umva' ('listen up'). He was extremely rude towards us and we were glad to drive away. Perhaps they should take their 1.5 million francs per night and invest it in some manners.

Rushel Kivu Lodge is a bed and breakfast guest house located on the shores of Lake Kivu, nestled between palm trees and a sprawling coffee plantation. Sleep in Rushel Kivu Lodge is the most profound and enjoyable as you have never experienced, nurtured by the lake’s waves and only interrupted by bird songs in the morning.
The usual wonderful stay was spoiled this time by other camping guests being allowed to play loud music. That ruined the tranquility of the place. Disappointing. Management, please note and choose what kind of resort you want to be/become.

We know that the state of Ruanda has a strict and tough Corona protocoll and we don`t want to act against this at any time. We stayed from 13.12.2021 till 16.12.2021 in the Gorilla Lake Kivu Hotel in Gisenyi. The staff was very friendlly an helpful but the manager Mr. N.W. failed many times. Mr.N.W. saw at arrival the positive Covid-PCR-Test of my wife (former PCR- tests were all negative) and a negative Rapid-test of the same day, then he asked us to stay in the room, what we did. Then he promised us a medical consulting and examination (I’am a medical doctor too) at the same day and he promised to arrange a new PCR-Test on the 17.12.2021, after 4hours of waiting he gave us the information that he was trying, this was a lie, on the 17.12.2021 he admitted that he had done anything, but in the morning of this day he came with the police and insisted to her to put my wife a GPS-Bracelett on. At this situation I saw flickering $-signs in his eyes. He treated us as prisoners and not as paying guests, we had no daily housekeeping and nobody took care of us, nobody ask us for our personal daily needs, we get toiletpaper, exchanging of towels only on request even the paid breakfast, he was unable to organize the exchange of a not working lightbulb in the bathroom or to give us a moskitokiller, he allowed noisy und loud gardenparties which disturbed us till 4:00am in the morning. He was unable to arrange a personal talk between my wife and a member of the UN which was send by our niece working by th UN in Goma, we stayed on the groundfloor and a talk was easily made over the balcony. I wanted to say "Good bye" to him on departure day he was inhouse but he didn’t want to see me. We are sorry to say but this is no hospitility or way to treat paying guests, we cannot recommend or appreciate this management. My personal opinion is, he ist the wrong man at this place, a manager’s duty ist to talk to guests and solve problems in a gentle, polite and diplomatic way and make guests feel comfortable and safe. This management is not 3-4 stars worth! The country is very polite, helpful and honest, what we can't say that about the hotel experience in this hotel. We also learned, that we were not the only guests, who make such an experience, really not a recommodation. Thomas ans Annette Guenster

I think these places have been renamed or something. Palm Garden lodge is listed on Booking.com but not here for some reason, and Palm Beach Resort is also listed as Palm Beach Lodge (same place). I went to Palm Beach Resort at first on accident, which is just across the road a bit, and is quite nice but they were booked, however the manager invited me over to eat there and swim, which turned out to be a really good option. Palm Garden Lodge is nice, but the staff are a bit less ‘with it,’ and it has a nice garden but it’s right on the road, so you hear trucks passing and some road noise (but it’s not bad). I booked last minute so had a back room that was fine, but no view of the lake. Electricity, WiFi, hot water, credit cards, free breakfast, all that jazz. If you’re saving money, do what I did and book here (they even have a dorm room option) then go across the road to Palm Beach for lunch/dinner (bigger menu) and swimming (small beach area, beach chairs, lots of comfy seating right at the waterfront). It’s far enough away from Gisenyi proper that it feels exotic but still a short moto ride away.

INZU Lodge mission is to provide ecological accommodations and a unique tourism experience while respecting Rwanda's traditions and which will also benefit the local community.
Inzu lodge is set up a steep hill which means you have stunning views of lake Kivu when you are there. We camped in our own tent and the eco shower was hot and clean. There was the option of flushing or compost toilet. The food is wonderful. Some of the best value and more unusual vegetarian or vegan choices in Rwanda. I love the presentation on banana leaves of some dishes. The only thing is the tents you stay in could be revamped to be a bit more stylish. They are currently basic, but serve their purpose.

In Kibuye I stayed at Home Saint-Jean. It was a great location with Lake Kivu. You can find lake Kivu on its three sides. Home Saint Jean also has some budget dormitories room for backpackers too. The staff was very cooperative and you can get valuable advices for budget tours.

The reception was warm & welcoming. The rooms are ok, no Tv in the rooms, perhaps for people to bond?. The view from the rooms breathtaking. Staff ready to help. Food was delicious. Well manicured garden. We enjoyed our stay.
