The restaurant Brasserie Normandie is situated at Rica Parken Hotel and was totally renovated in 2010. The restaurant is considered one of alesund's finest. The first class á la carte restaurant has got an exciting menu with both local specialities and int
Ate here when staying at the hotel. Lovely relaxed stylish restaurant, friendly and attentive service. Good choice of meat and fish dishes. Most mains are about 300 NOK. Had chicken with mushroom sauce served with potatoes and veg, perfect presentation and freshly cooked although a little salty for my personal taste. Plenty of diners at this 2nd floor restaurant, more than I've seen at other hotels in the area. I'd definitely eat here again and try another dish

After complementing the chef we heard the fish soup recipe was handed down from his grandmother and the fresh fish is delivered daily. My husband couldnât get over how wonderful the fish and chips tasted. Highly recommend taking time visiting Alesund to lunch at Fisketorget!

After a long yet exhilarating day trip to Geiranger, we returned back rather late (for Alesund restaurant timings) and decided to try out this restaurant which was near our hotel. It was already 2120hrs, so we had no time to change, and we walked to Zuuma, around the corner, hoping we were not too late (since the previous day, which is when we landed into Norway as also Alesund, from Stockholm, we got here after they had closed)We stood at the entrance for a good 5-7 mins, ignored by the lady (didn't get the name as they don't wear badges) who was obviously like a supervisor of some sort who would give us a table. Other staff glanced at us apologetically and eventually one of them approached us and very courteously and apologetically informed us that he can give us a table but we need to order in something like 5mins or so, - phew!! We gladly accepted his offer & were hurriedly taken to a table. The grumpy lady did not look happy at all, possibly because we were given a table so close to the "closing" time and made her unhappiness very apparent. Anyhow, soon she left for the day and the atmosphere was so much better thereafter.....The courteous chap who had ushered us to the table, came to take the order. The fish we wanted to order was over, so we settled in for the grills - the Ox filet and spicy barbeque rib with kimchi . Absolutely top-notch and delicious......! We enjoyed our dinner, and during the course of our meal met the owner of the place - a very pleasant gentleman and our server, who was from Iraq, who we chatted with, as we placed our dessert order (creme brulee), was par excellence with his service, attitude and courteousness. The restaurant has a pleasant, modern day, simplistic yet classy look about it, with huge glass windows through which one gets to view the inlet sea. They have an open kitchen concept, which is nice. We stayed in Alesund for 3 nights and this was definitely the best dinner we had. Though it started off not so pleasantly, but the evening ended well, what with the very pleasant owner and the subtle & courteous guy from Iraq. And well, the supervisor lady in question, certainly needs some training in the business of hospitality - don't make customers wait in a near empty restaurant for so long, even if its near closing time, either politely refuse or do what our server had done - request the customer to order fast. We will appreciate your gesture and the word will spread. I give them 5 stars, for they truly deserve it, what with the quality of the food, the service by our man from Iraq and the pleasant owner. Till date when me and my husband discuss dinner in Norway, we talk about Zuuma in Alesund besides another one at Bergen. :-)

We had the set menu and it was an absolute treat - considering how expensive restaurants are in Norway one appreciated not only the innovative and high quality food but the setting. The restaurant is in an historic building, formerly a warehouse with exposed beams - the furnishings and art work add to a wonderful ambienceWe had a very unique dish which was sumptuous - a lobster pie part lobster part bisque with a layer of pastry on top The polish sous chef who was in charge that night gave us his time to explain our dishes. The overall service was exemplary You do not need to look elsewhere once you have experienced this restaurant

From the heart of Aalesund, with a view towards Aalesundet, Molja and the great sea. We in XL Diner has since the start up in 1999 Purposeful developed what is today well known as Europes best Bacalao restaurant, to the habitants pride and our guests enjo
We were referred to this restaurant by a family member and I was personally unsure of the the main menu choice of bacalao but we dove into the dining experience and were well rewarded. The guys shared the Royal Bacalao (2 person selection) that features 3 varieties of Bacalao and it was more than enough for them. I had the Spanish Bacalao and my daughter had the Parmesean Bacalao. The servings were plentiful and flavorful and the service was attentive. Somehow our reservation that was made by our hotel was not to be found upon arrival, but we were seated, albeit not in a prime location to fully enjoy the harbor views. My tip is to 1) make a reservation 2) ask for prime seating near the window 3) try the Bacalao! People do dress up for this restaurant, but men can get by with a nice button down or polo shirt and women a dressier blouse and black capri's or sun dress. I would not recommend shorts for guys or gals for evening dinner.
