I was super excited to find this place, failing our first attempt the other night, as it is tucked into an alley. The ambience is great, cozy, with couches and candles. A lot of patrons frequented, with much conversation and laughter. The pizza was superb, but alas as a âvinbarâ it was very disappointing. The Viognier I order at first was a bit nasty, and I asked for a Pinot Gris to follow, but a Reisling was the best they had. In fairness, I think it is de rigeur to order by the bottle, as the menu does not offer wines by the glass. Even so, it wasnât clear to me that they knew much about wine.As I say, the pizza was quite good, and the cheese plate with parma and salami equally good - a Norwegian cheese was superb.Failing as did the wine, the service was terribly slow and inattentive, which accounts for a good bit of this rating. At one point after waiting a long time for our second glass of wine, I asked the server how that (the wine order) was coming along. He astonished me by replying âI will when I have time.â I hesitate to give such a rating, but it was as we experienced it.

The restaurant where the atmosphere makes all the difference. Enjoy dining in the fascinating atmosphere of the old warf, Bryggen, where the buildings erected by the merchants of the Hanseatic League between the 13th and the 18th centuries still stand.
This restaurant is easily accessible in the harbor in Bergen. We were late in the tourist season so we were able to get a table without a reservation. The menu had an English translation. The food was typical Norwegian fare with a lot of variety from fish to meat and was moderately priced. The service was very good and the atmosphere was quite cozy. We ate here at a recommendation from a friend and were delighted both with the food and the ambiance.

My partner and I travelled across Norway for a week and this was by far our best meal out. The food was fantastic and the drinks just as good. The service was excellent and recommended certain dishes and explained how different dishes were cooked (spoiler alert - the slow cooked steak is amazing).I have read other reviews say the portions aren't that big - I actually disagree. I believe the portion sizes are perfect, I left fulfilled but not too full. I had the steak and brownie for dessert. The Jamaican Pornstar cocktail is inspiring. Our waiter (guy with beard, glasses - sorry I didn't catch your name) was polite, spoke English better than I can and was very attentive despite being busy.Very good all round!Hi James!Thank you so much for your review and for sharing it here, we really appreciate that!We focus a lot on making a difference about the things you point out, so this we really appreciate :)Thanks for visiting us, and taking your time to share your experience!Best regards,John RobertManager

This restaurant is a bit away from downtown. A small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We were here with a group of friends and we were given a set meny, a three course with drinks included. The starters with three different portions, the main course veal and three different portions of dessert were just great. The combinations of fruits vegetables and meat/fish was fantastic and tasted delicious. The veal is a speciality and tasted just fantastic. Can just recommend the food here. A three course set menu with wine package costs 120 euros per person. The service was also fabulous. The restaurant has clean toilet. Just find your way here and enjoy the food!

Casual restuarant with great local cuisine and a very good wine list. We focus on wine pairings for the meny. And we also have a great selection of natural/organic wines:)
We made reservations at this restaurants some weeks before our arrival, in view of its reputation for fine food. Fortunate that we did, because the place was packed when we arrived. It is not a very formal place, although it is elegant in its simplicity. The food was outstanding: small plates, delicately prepared and skillfully presented, from very fresh ingredients, mostly local. Our waiter, a young man, was a bit too funny for his own good, but he was effective, helpful and efficient. The wine list (by the glass) is modest in size, but the wines were of good quality and enjoyable. There is a much more extensive wine list by the bottle. We liked the pairings. Since there are other Colonialens in the central are of Bergen, make sure you look for Colonialen 44.

We were in Bergen on holiday and coincidentally it was our wedding anniversary, after a bit of research we decided to eat at Bare. It was exceptionally good, great food, faultless service and great atmosphere. My wife is vegetarian and the dishes they prepared for her were both delicious and visually matched mine, very clever. The wine flight was a perfect accompaniment.Highly recommend this place.Thank you very much for the nice feed-back.Wish you welcome back next time you are in Bergen

We tried the 5 course menu. You must reserve the table few days before. It is usually full and no walk in available. The environment, food and services are all excellent. The standard is comparable with Michelin 2 stars from our opinion. This ticks all of my boxes. Healthy, delish, hearty and with plenty of options. They do a vegan sandwich and a vegan salad.. But my fave's the green pot (broccoli, spinach...). Pick a base (soup/pot) and then add 2-3 toppings such as mung beans, quinoa and veggies. This is my go to spot in Bergen for sure.

Just outside the City of Bergen, you will find one of the most exotic attractions in the whole of Western Norway's archipelago. Cornelius is one of Norway's best seafood restaurants. It is situated right by the sea on a small island with spectacular views
This restaurant is an enchantment for the eyes and taste. Its boat access from Bergen adds an enchanting touch to this seafood expérience. Rarely welcomed so warmly, we are accompanied by the staff of extreme friendliness throughout this experience. The dishes we tasted were explained in detail. They are of a very high gastronomic quality. As a French we were pleasently surprised by the quality of the wines served. Rare thing in France, we had a guided tour of the restaurant's cellar, a wonder ! Everything is perfect in this restaurant so much that we did not want to leave ! Congratulations to all the team and thank you for this wonderfull evening. Dear guest,Thank you very much for your positive feedback about your visit at Cornelius. I am very delighted to hear that you enjoyed our food and the service.
