This was our second visit and we were as impressed as on our first visit. We were given a delicious complimentary bowl of spicy seafood bisque on arrival (very welcome on an icy Cape Town day). We then shared a plate of perfectly cooked prawns, served with the most delicious soya sauce-based sauce and fabulous egg-fried rice. The staff were attentive and efficient (and I loved the teapot they brought my tea in).

Possibly they were just having a bad morning... but... ordered ice coffee, which is offered with ice or ice cream. I think itâs a reasonable assumption that the âdefaultâ for ice coffee would be coffee with ice. But I wasnât asked - and received what was basically a milkshake. That would have been fine (it was very good)...But service was painfully slow - took nearly 30 minutes for our order to be placed, and it took nearly 45 for the food to come. The server apologized, and said they were having delays in the kitchen. When my food finally arrived (poached eggs with avocado on toast) the eggs were cold. My wifeâs omelette was hot - so I suppose mine sat while they made hers. Bad kitchen management. While we were there, the waitress delivered the wrong food to the table next to us, and as we were leaving, another couple left refusing to pay. Went here specifically as the reviews are very good. The menu looks nice - and my eggs were perfectly poached...just cold. So maybe itâs fantastic - just wasnât on that day.

We stopped here just for a coffee and ended up ordering an omelette, carrot cake and some wine. Nude little spot. Nice covered stoep. My omelette and my hubbies carrot cake were both great. Good selection of wines by the glass. Attentive service. Good prices. It's nothing unusual, but the basics are done very well! A pleasant surprise and we'd go back for another meal.
