Everything was amazin!!! The wine, the food, the special people that work there... the GARDEN and LAND MENU were wonderful. The price was not expensive ! It os a perfect place ! Recomended to us by a friend we popped in mid Sunday afternoon for much needed nourishment and a cold drink after walking the nearby hiking trailMet by a friendly waiter who handed us menus and took our drinks order.The establishment was very quiet but this was no reflection upon the restaurant, given the time of year the whole town was pretty much deserted.A very good craft beer arrived along with a soft drink arrived and food orders taken by a very knowledgeable and friendly waiter.A vegetarian type sandwich with a side order of potato wedges..probably the best wedges i've ever had, crisp on the outside and beautifully cooked within.I had, after much deliberation the meatballs pasta, this establishment is reknown for its pizzas and the array available was certainly tempting but in the end i had the pasta dish.Very good quality meatballs and the pasta was just perfect...ive had slightly better Neapolitan sauce but ive had a damn sight worse too.Met the owner, Belinda, who is obviously very,very passionate about her business and the food it serves...it shows!A pleasant hour or so spend at the Woodpecker Pizzeria and we will definitely return to sample the pizzas one dayRecomended!!!

By now I think I know most of Swellendamâs restaurants, diners and coffeeshops, but had never been to Elnitsaâs Family Restaurant in the Carlton Mall, just off the main road in Swellendam. A mall by the way with lovely creative shops, all worthwhile a visit. While listening to the golden oldies of the 80s I thoroughly enjoyed my freshly made pasta Al Fredo, creamy and very flavourful. The staff was very friendly and very attentative. Definitely recommend this hidden gem for lunch.
