We like the unpretentious setting, atmosphere and decor of Henri's. Plus the fact that the food is consistently good, so it's never a difficult choice when we decide on the spur of the moment to go out instead of eating in. Henri's is a mainstay in the town, and his solid reputation is well-earned. Thank you for making a effort to give us such a great review. Hope to see you soon.

Family restaurant in Gordon's Bay in the Cape Gordonia builing on the first floor across from the Harbour Lights Restaurant near Bikini Beach. Kids play area. Ww also cater for events inhouse and outside functions. Our menu is full of delicious home cooke
How this restaurant got such high ratings from other reviewers, is beyond me. We must have visited on the cook's night off. I took a visitor from the USA and was embarrassed. The place has absolutely no atmosphere, the chicken liver starter was a stodgy mess of uncooked flour and the mains were so ordinary that I've forgotten what we had.At least the food was reasonably priced and there was only plonk to choose from on the wine list so even that was cheap. How terribly upsetting to read your review. We take pride in all our guests and the food which we offer and always follow up with our patrons if all is to their liking. It is very unfortunate that you and your brother, that was visiting from the USA, did not at any stage advise that there was a problem with the chicken livers as we would have replaced this for you without any hesitation.I recall clearly the issue regarding the wines and did advise that we keep a limited stock available. Your choice of the Riebeek Chenin Blanc was followed up with a tasting first of the wine and if the wine was not suitable, I did mention that I would replace the wine with an alternative, however, you did say that the wine was fine. With regard to the other dishes, your choice was our Chicken in Red Wine and the Curry Lamb which neither seemed to have any objection to.With regard to the comment about the atmosphere - we are not a fancy restaurant as can be seen in our prices and have received many positive comments from our regulars with regard to the décor. Possibly Zest would have been a better alternative and more in line with the dining experience you were looking for.

Seafood and Sushi
Having ordered and enjoyed take away sushi from Oceans 8, we decided to have a sit down dinner. I rather wished we had not.For starters I had the prawn drumplings, while he had the tempura prawns. Both were seriously lacking in seasoning, but otherwise good.We both opted for the kingklip fillet for main. My husband had stir fried veg as a side, while I ordered chips as a side. He said he enjoyed his meal, but then his kingklip was not shoe sole thin and was therefore not over cooked. Mine was both shoe sole thin and horribly over cooked. It had absoultely no taste. The fact that the lemon wedge which was served with my meal looked and tasted like one you would find hidden at the back of your vegetable draw weeks later, did not help at all. I was very disappointed in the meal indeed, but the chips were good.I mentioned my concerns to our waitress, who said she would take it up with her manager, but we left without so much as an acknowledgement of my complaint, never mind an apology. (I must add that I certainly did not expect a free meal, as I always insist on paying for my meal even when it is terrible, so that is not the issue.)Our server was friendly, but apart from opening our wine and pouring the first glass, we did not see her between ordering our meals, meal delivery, and asking for the bill.In a town where there are more than enough options ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, I do not think that I will spend any more time at Oceans 8. I may, and I am not convinced that I will, order sushi from Oceans 8 again.

At Ocean Basket Gordon's Bay you'll find friendly people, a home-from-home feeling and great value for your hard-earned bucks.
We went there for lunch following the high review & we were left very disappointed. The service is slow & poor(no one smile there), the food is below average, the salmon bites came burnt & when I asked if this is normal the answer was yes! It’s sad considering the potential & the welcoming attitude (from who I think was the owner) at the entrance. Good day Ibrahim H,We are concerned to see that your experience was not a good one. Please use the link to send us your details so we can discuss this with you. http://eyerys.net/oceanWe look forward to hearing from you. Many Thanks,Team Ocean Basket

67 Beach Road, Gordon's Bay Situated at the Foot of the Helderberg Mountain range. Tallas Tavern is a historic building that dates back to over 60 years.
Great tasting food and the service by our waitress Nici was awesome. The inside needs a refresh or coat of paint. Owner could be more friendly and drinks pricing more visible. Definitely will be back in future for the tasty food. Hopefully Nici will still be there.

Popped in for a quick birthday lunch today. The pulled pork nachos were awful but the long haired blonde waiter who cleared our table was worse. I enquired why the dish was served with yoghurt instead of the advertised sour cream he responded "that's how we serve it". I said you can't do that, he said 'why not'. I work in restaurants also, though i never said that but yoghurt and sour cream are 2 different things. But his blunt attitude was rude, he ended his defensive retort with "well that's just perspective" when I said that melted cheese and yoghurt do not go together, because they dont, which basically was a kind of ' if you don't like it you can bugger off' response. We did. Very bad food, very rude staff. First and last visit.Hi Michelle, thank you for the review – Our Pulled Pork Nacho’s is a top seller and we would like to keep it that way – It would have been great if you could have highlighted your concerns on the spot to enable rectification immediately. The waiter conduct is not in line with our core values and the incident will be reviewed accordingly.

we had a great time. food was good o general Although starter of mussels was top notch. very attentive manager Checked with us several times... we had a little event with our bill which left us wondering .we will tell you as a cautionary tale. our bill added up to About 700 rands with service, which we paid in cash. my husband got the bills, counted. gave them to me, I double checked. handed to the waiter. he ran after us and claimed we had given him 6 x100bills and 1 10 rands bill instead of 7× 100 rands. we felt quite embarrassed and confused and handed him another 100 rand bill. at that moment we were rather preoccupied with sth else so thought nothing of it. later, tho, hubby said: look at these bills, tho we are foreigners and all, they are not that easy to confuse... both the Color and size are completely different... we double checked... so basically not accusing anyone but I would make sure I counted the bills in front of the Server before leaving this ( and after this even any) restaurant.
