Lively atmosphere, lovely food, wide choice to suit all tastes and times of day. The greatest place to meet on Fish Hoek Beach with stunning views.
The Beachcomber Bistro is located on the beach, with a play park for the kids. The restaurant offers a large menu. The service was however average and the waitress could have been friendlier, more helpful and she should have explained the dishes to us.The fish was cooked perfectly and so were the few fries on the plate. The same can unfortunately not be said about the rice, which was undercooked and chewy. The dish included a little green salad and something that resembled coleslaw with a large amount finely minced (or processed) cabbage. The coleslaw was terrible, we could not eat it.Note to Owner: It would be advisable to inform customers of the 'coleslaw' and rice, we would not have chosen this option. Also, be more generous with the fries, my plate consisted of about 6 fries. I don't think that we will be back, there are better options in the vicinity.#we.love2travelI am glad to see that your seafood and french fries were cooked perfectly. I apologize that you found your rice to be under cooked and chewy. We would gladly have replaced your meal. Management and cooks, as a norm taste everything that is put out to make sure something like this does not happen. I put my hands up, as we unfortunately slipped up here. I did not get any such valuable feedback from the customers on that day, which shows how important it is for communication a.s.a.p. We care and will act immediately to serve and assist in anyway possible to ensure your happiness. Serving salads, with our meals, at no extra cost, is a great way to help boost your veggie intake.A healthy mixed green salad. Featuring a base of green lettuce, onion, green pepper, tomato and carrot, accompanied with coleslaw, that normally pleases both adults and kids. We serve a classic coleslaw salad with home made mayonnaise. Finely, sliced cabbage, carrots, a dash of pepper and creamy homemade mayonnaise. Some customers are only ever exposed to store bought mayonnaise, and find it a treat.

This was our second visit and we were as impressed as on our first visit. We were given a delicious complimentary bowl of spicy seafood bisque on arrival (very welcome on an icy Cape Town day). We then shared a plate of perfectly cooked prawns, served with the most delicious soya sauce-based sauce and fabulous egg-fried rice. The staff were attentive and efficient (and I loved the teapot they brought my tea in).

The seafood is the talk of the Cape, the location is the envy of the country. Make eating by Fish Hoek Beach a special experience. The Galley restaurant carries on the great seafood tradition that made it such a favourite for many years.
Today we have 6 pax having lunch there, with a executive shef from Singapore among us. Mathea, the owner attended to us, suggesting menu, and showing 6 bottles for wines. We have 4 lobsters, 2 fish meals, oysters, escagots. All very fresh, well presented. Mathea was very hospitable and lovely host. I cannot agree with many of the poor reviews on this link. As for my group, they urge me to submit our endorsement for this restaurant and our appreciation for a most wonderful lunch.Thank you for your commentsMost readers know and appreciate that The Galley and The Bayside Restaurants are a Family oriented facility with a strong intention on "Value for Money" and to go the extra step or do the extra service is not an issue for us, and Mrs. Mathea Eichel leads by example. We love her caring and giving nature. The Galley grew under the owners stewardship into one of the leading Restaurants in the south for the benefit of locals and visitors. She takes pride in her community and has supported local hospitals, schools, churches, old age homes, sport and recreational groups. They have established a successful educational program educating township children who would not otherwise have access to "First World Education".

Having read the very good reviews for this restaurant, myself and a group of 5 friends had dinner here on a Saturday evening. As the prices were what one would expect to pay in an upmarket restaurant, our expectations were high. The maitre d raved about the mussel starter - which we all had. It reminded me of those frozen crumbed mussels one finds in the freezer section of any supermarket. We complained that they were greasy and the only comment we got was "I'll tell chef. It was not mentioned again. The kingklip at R180 wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. There didn't seem to be any effort at presentation and as the plate was rather small the food was just unceremoniously plonked on it. I got the distinct impression that this was an amateur cook rather than a trained chef. The dessert was nice but certainly not fine dining.I would not rush back to this restaurant . R700 per couple excluding wine

So we had a lunch with the âdeconstructedâ salads niçoise...awesome...so good that we we HAD to come back. We booked a table( they lost the reservation made in person) but arrived and so excited to have the same thing. It was so disappointing!! Was this the same restaurant? We had 4dishes, one was good, the others tasteless unless salt is your destination. What a disappointment! Consistent preparation is key...this was not the case. You can do better!! Avoid. Dear Steve,We thank you for making us aware of what sounds like a truly disapointing experience and humbly apologize. Were you able to bring your concern to our service team's attention to correct for you?In case that did not happen please do feel free to let us know the date and time of your second visit via the link below so that we may look into this and contact you directly: https://harbourhouse.goreview.co.za/store-locator/goreview-crm/defaultBenjamin and the Harbour House Team
