Reviews on International food in Simon's Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Simon's Town (Afrikaans: Simonstad), sometimes spelled Simonstown, is a town near Cape Town, South Africa, which is home to the South African Navy. It is located on the shores of False Bay, on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula. For more than two centuries it has been a naval base and harbour (first for the Royal Navy and now the South African Navy). The town is named after Simon van der Stel, an early governor of the Cape Colony.

Having left another establishment that tried charge for toasting gluten free bread, we had a wonderful breakfast at the courtyard. They even supplied gluten free bread free of charge.Whilst neither of us is vegan, we found a nice selection of options. The food was prepared in a short time, beautifully presented and most tasty. The courtyard also has a most appealing ambience, and friendly waiters.Well worth a visit
Excellent new establishment, beautifully decorated, great coffee, breakfast lunch and Suschi, well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Osetra - The Restaurant is a 220-seater upmarket designer restaurant, situated in the heart of Kalk Bay. The restaurant, named after the Caviar, is almost completely sea facing with the outside dining terrace perfectly positioned for people-watching. Open
This was our second visit and we were as impressed as on our first visit. We were given a delicious complimentary bowl of spicy seafood bisque on arrival (very welcome on an icy Cape Town day). We then shared a plate of perfectly cooked prawns, served with the most delicious soya sauce-based sauce and fabulous egg-fried rice. The staff were attentive and efficient (and I loved the teapot they brought my tea in).

The Cape Farmhouse Restaurant is closed until further notice. thank you for your support in the past
We booked a table for a Sunday lunch at this venue which is so attractive from the outside. However all the food was either tasteless or overdone with spices. The sirloin steak was done correctly: medium to well, but completely tasteless. Similarly the bobotie was tasteless where it arrived, with the meat as a rectangle with very little evidence of any egg on top, and a small tower of rice to the side. However the pepper steak in a phylo parcel had far too much pepper, such that the very hot flavour drowned out the taste of the rest of the meal and made it more like a chilli dish than a pepper steak pie, say.But perhaps even worse than the food was the unbearably long wait. We were the only table inside but the front of the restaurant was full and one or two tables outside at the back were taken. So the restaurant was far from its full capacity, but the kitchen clearly could not cope. We had to wait almost an hour before our meals arrived, as we watched the occasional meal being delivered to other tables that were ahead of us in the "queue". There were enough waitrons but the kitchen was obviously struggling to keep up with the orders. We had eaten before at this restaurant a year or two ago, so this deterioration in quality and service was doubly-disappointing.

I have eaten at the Saveur Restaurant many times, this was a first at the new cafe at the Harbour View Mall, the ambiance is lovely, with plenty of choice of food and drink. They have special offers on different nights, we were there on the steak night, the ribeye with melted brie and read onion jam was phenomenal!!! What a superb meal and accompanied by a nice craft ale. This is a place well worth the visit!

The Hub Cafe is super excited about its brand new food offering with Chef Dylan Laity at the helm. Weâve had a face lift and moved our kitchen upstairs . Diners are now privileged to watch Chef Dylan and his team hard at work in the âtheatre of foodâ. Our
We were visiting South Africa and were having a tour of the area by friends who live in nearby Llandudno, when we all felt it was coffee time. So we decided on The Hub. We had a very pleasant greeting from the staff, who were quite happy for us to just have a coffee. So we spent a pleasant half hour in this great cafe and have to say that I would certainly return again, especially for the great welcome given by the staff! Thanks so much for your review - we really appreciate our guests taking the time to write! We hope you enjoyed your visit to SA and that you will come back again soon!Warm regardsNatasha & The Village Hub team

Hubby and I were travelling as part of a group and our scheduled lunch stop was Dixies Restaurant. Please keep in mind that this review is NOT based on the menu as a whole but rather what we were offered as a group meal.We were served hake and it was VERY underwhelming. For many of the people in our group the fish wasn't even cooked and in fact, one of our travellers ended up getting sick.I will say that the food that was being ordered off the menu at other tables looked good as it was being served but I can't say the same about our meal.NO, we wouldn't go back.We are terribly sorry to hear of your experience at Dixies. Please could you provide us with the date that you visited Dixies so that we can do an internal investigation. It is a pity, that this was not reported to management on the day so that we could have rectified this issue immediately. Once again, we apologise profusely.

Nestled unobtrusively on one of the most scenic coastlines in the Cape, en-route to Cape Point, this historical building, ensures an idyllic lunch or evening experience. Black Marlin has earned a reputation for its stunning seafood and attentive service n
My guide took us here for lunch. It was set on the sea. There were lots of reservations, so we sat just inside. We still had a view of the water. There is ample seating. I enjoyed a lunch of fish cakes and then indulged in the creme brûlée. Delicious!

My experience of pescado is that which i experienced at many such places...those that want to profit from the international tourist making their rounds in our country. South africans....the ordinary guy from around suffer the consequence which is..... that prices are ridiculous..food is average and portions small. They pescado included became complacent..in the last many years that I have eaten there...decor remained the same...food is nothing to write home about and service is average..there is nothing unique about the place that will cause even a local like myself to come there again..and again...
