As you would expect, The Mountain State displays rustic charm with dramatic river gorges, large limestone caverns and spectacular mountain views. West Virginia hosts outdoor enthusiasts and family vacationers looking for fresh-air activities and serene mountain atmosphere. If stimulating city holidays are your preference, Charleston combines warm hospitality with a lovely riverside location. A family-friendly destination, you’ll discover children’s theatre, river park recreation and popular Bridge Road for shopping and dining. Smaller towns blend outdoor adventure with quaint village atmospheres. Set between the New, Greenbrier and Bluestone Rivers, Hinton is an historic rail town filled with turn-of-the-century architecture and a host of water activities at its doorstep – rafting, fishing, kayaking and more. In the heart of West Virginia, Summersville is a “Mountain Water Playground.” Its lakeside location encourages outdoor recreation from swimming and boating to scuba diving and rafting. And history buffs can trace Civil War battles throughout the states historic sites and state parks. Hiking or horseback riding along trails through deep hardwood forests is another family favorite, especially when you stop for a picnic along a clear mountain stream.

The Renovated Barn at Seneca Rocks is available for rent year round. It has a bathroom with hot shower, small kitchen area (toaster, microwave, small fridge, stove top burners (2), and coffee maker). Coffee and Tea provided. There is 1 Queen bed in the room along with a sitting area. There is a TV with Netflix, but no cable TV. Free Wifi reaches the barn. This is a true barn, and goats, chickens, cats, peacocks and a pig stay immediately next door. Please expect some noise both from the animals and nature! The barn has AC for the hot months, and a space heater for the cold ones. For a unique experience, come stay in the Seneca House Renovated Barn! For safety concerns the Barn is not suitable for children. All guests must be 18 years or older. Maximum 2 adults.
Went here last summer to get away from the bustle of northern Virginia/DC and it scratched every itch! You will truly feel transported to another place...a peaceful and beautiful place, surrounded by nature (and a couple goats and chickens). The owner built this retreat (her home) with her friends and opens it to guests on weekends. I stayed in the outdoor mini barn/shed which is fully adorned. The home is also very impressive as a guest house with unique features like a floating walkway upstairs between rooms.

The Brewstel Hostel encompasses the entire second floor of our historic building. It features all the amenities of a hotel but with the affordable price tag of a hostel. A special feature of our hostel is its two uniquely themed communal bunk rooms. Guests may stay in either our cozy Cabin or retro Caboose rooms. Both bunk rooms have six bunks, six lockers, two private showers and toilets. Guests also enjoy central air conditioning, a full kitchen, and our rooftop deck.
Hopped on my motorcycle and left Richmond that morning, After a beautiful day of twists I was tuckered out. Rain clouds were looming and it was colder then the flatlands. Other lodging in the area looked empty and stale, I found this place on Air BnB and just rolled up. super nice guy Cody gave me a room and a much needed actually very good stout. I had the room all to my self and picked a nice bunk near the window. There was a local metal man with some friendly older fellows who loved to shread getting ready in the kitchen area and they made me feel at home and we drank fireball. Then they played while I tasted other beers. excellent small town experience in the heart of beautiful West Virginia, The room top next was nice to chill on and had a great view of the mountains. Great dinner for breakfast around the corner. 5 stars

Our family of four absolutely loved it here! The hosts were so kind and responsive. We had everything we needed- my kids unplugged and we actually enjoyed hours of talks, board games and just hanging out. Although no TV or WiFi in the room, we could connect if needed in the cozy community room. We were wanting a laid back, rural, mountainous location and got exactly that. If you’re looking for a clean place with nostalgic, rustic 70s charm to bring back memories, this could be right up your alley. Be prepared, we were here during a rainy weekend and it was quite muddy. But we had our snow boots so didn’t bother us. Actually added to the authenticity of the intended trip. Left feeling rested and ready for 2021!! Definitely on our repeat list - bet it’s beautiful every season.

This is basically a room with a bed and TV and a nice view of the grounds. There is a small lounge area and aging picnic table outside. The city of Ripley is a 5 minute drive and then some to the shopping areas. The room does need to upgrade its dull lighting and a few more outlets. You may want to bring some brighter 100w equivalent LED bulbs and an extension chord with you. No refrigerator or microwave. WIFI is slow. The grounds are well kept with trails and a fishing pond.

Self service style lodging in the heart of the New River Gorge National Park. We offer shared or private rooms, with shared baths and common spaces -similar to a B&B (but w/o the Breakfast!) World-class whitewater, birding, biking, hiking. 1 mile from Fayetteville historic-coolest town. 4 bedrooms each with 2 beds. 2 separate commodes and 2 separate shower rooms. Heat in each room, clean sheets, pillows and light blankets included. Backyard with fire ring. General store across the road. Fridge, coffee pot, microwave provided in main living area w dining table & chairs. You cannot get any closer to the heart of the New River National Park then here at the River Rock!
I stayed here for 1 night in August 2016. Like the other reviews mention, this hostel is not staffed. Once you book online you will get a confirmation with the door code. The hostel has nice common space and 2 bed rooms. The facilities were clean and well-kept. I would definitely stay here again. This hostel seems like an unknown treasure, so it's likely that if you make a booking you'll be the only guest -- so you can take advantage of that and get cheap lodgings if you're traveling with a group or family.
